Sharp LC-80LE632U 80-inch LED LCD HDTV debuts at under $5,500

Sharp has unveiled a new LCD HDTV that will be launching next month that is impressive. The set is model number LC-80LE632U and it has a giant 80-inch screen. It has all the features that we expect on high-end HDTVs today like 1080p resolution, LED backlighting, and integrated WiFi. The WiFi access allows the smart TV to access apps like Netflix, VUDU, and more.

The 80-inch screen has more than twice the screen area of a 55-inch HDTV. The LED backlighting means it will slurp less power than CCFL sets and it has a nice contrast ratio of 6M:1 dynamic. The set also features a 120Hz Fine Motion Enhanced refresh rate for a clear image and the TV is almost 2-feet deep making it much thinner than projection TVs. The online connectivity of the TV allows tech support to assist with TV setup if needed.

The panel the big TV uses has 10-bit processing to minimize light leakage. The TV also features dual USB ports and a special Vyper Drive engine to reduce lag when gaming using the big TV. Sharp doesn't mention the connectivity, but I would bet it has at least four HDMI ports and more on the back. The TV will land in October for $5,499.99, which is a good price considering the size of the screen.
