Sharp DECT phone adds in 7-inch touchscreen digital photo frame

You don't see a huge amount of development in cordless landline phones, so we're hoping Sharp Japan's new JD-7C1CL/CW makes it over to the US and Europe.  A combination of a base-station unit with a 7-inch touchscreen 800 x 480 LCD and a DECT handset, the JD-7C1CL/CW not only shows your digital photos but can also show received faxes rather than printing them out.

Inside the base station there's 128MB of storage together with a multiformat card reader; you can load new images via infrared.  Battery life is tipped at 200hrs standby or 6hrs voice-call talktime.  If you're not displaying photos then the touchscreen will show a clock or calendar, or mixture of the two.

The Sharp JD-7C1CL/CW will appear on Japanese shelves come September 25th, though price is yet to be confirmed.  It'll be available in both black and white.
