Sharknado 3 details unveiled: movie will premiere in July

If you're a fan of Syfy's ridiculous Sharknado movies, you've likely known for a while now that a third movie will be arriving some time this year. The network has been relatively quiet about the movie's details, however, until today. NBCUniversal, the network behind it, has announced that the newest Sharknado movie will be called Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, and it'll be arriving on the Syfy channel on July 22 at 9PM. The movie will then debut across the globe elsewhere the next day.

The movies are ridiculous, and there's no effort to pretend otherwise. That's what makes them so much fun, and has resulted in a surprisingly large fan base who keep demanding more. Syfy is happy to satisfy that demand — said its Senior Vice President of Program Strategy Chris Regina, "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! embraces the larger-than-life irreverence that has made these movies so popular and entertaining."

This announcement and the plans come despite a strike from the production members that happened back on March 3, the reason revolving around an IATSE contract. This has included picketing in Los Angeles, and finger pointing between Asylum, which produced the third movie, and IATSE, which is based out of New York.

While that issue doesn't appear to have gone away, the movie is pressing forward regardless, and it'll include both Ian Ziering and Tara Reid in starring roles. Anthony C. Ferrante will be directing, and the movie's script was penned by Thunder Levin. The movie will be set in both Florida and Washington DC, and will, among other things, have a cameo by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
