Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play hands-on [Video]

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play hands-on [Video]

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA Play has been so well leaked already, there's a strange sense of familiarity with the gaming smartphone despite it having only made its official debut at MWC 2011 today. Hands-on, it's an odd combination of the familiar from Android and PSP, and during gameplay it certainly feels fast enough. We demo'd Bruce Lee: Dragon Warrior, FIFA '10 and Asphalt 6, and all three were slick and responsive.

Sony has built something of a reputation for itself by putting together unusual, odd or vaguely unpleasant commercials in the past, but Sony Ericsson has outdone itself with its latest Android spot. SlashGear Week in Review- Week 5 2011

Welcome to this week's edition of the SlashGear Week in Review! If you are a PC hardware geek an AMD spokesman causally showed off an unannounced video card on Monday called the HD 6990. The card has dual GPUs and should be very fast. We heard a bit of early detail on the PSP2 from Nikkei that claimed the new portable would have an OLED touchscreen, 3G and a new CPU. Horizontal Symmetry – The Way of the Future Phone?

Horizontal Symmetry – The Way of the Future Phone?

The current trend in smartphone design is that of a vertical symmetry. It's important to make sure the left and the right of the screen, (that being the right and left when the phone is held in a portrait mode,) are equal, or at least appear to be equal. The future of the phone is presented in a project by Jason Wang, a designer who believes that the next logical step in the evolution of the handheld communicator is symmetry in landscape mode.
