Xbox 720 “ultimate gaming console” focus would make Molyneux a “happy bunny”

This week the founder of both 22cans and Lionhead gaming companies suggested that he'll be excited to see how far the next-generation Xbox has come since he saw Microsoft's plans a year ago. Peter Molyneux made it clear that his hopes for the Microsoft-made console centered on gaming and that the company make what he called "the ultimate gaming console." The alternative, he said, was that the creators of the console would get distracted with living room entertainment abilities and technologies like Glass and touch.

Earlier today, Activision and Infinity Ward revealed a teaser trailer for its latest Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Ghosts. The game is set to be the 10th installment in the series, and is confirmed to be heading to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and of course, the upcoming Xbox 720 (or whatever it's going to be called) on November 5th. What's surprising is that we'll see this game's first demo on the next-gen Xbox.

Microsoft isn't far off announcing the first official details about its upcoming "Xbox 720" next-gen console, but according to the latest batch of whispers the gaming flagship will launch as the Xbox Fusion. Speculation about the official name Microsoft will give the Xbox 360 successor has circulated since shortly after the 360 itself arrived, with the current internal codename "Durango" and tongue-in-cheek "Xbox 720" expected to fall by the wayside in favor of a more distinctive brand.

Xbox 720 will do without IllumiRoom at launch, Microsoft confirms

Microsoft's IllumiRoom technology, which turns your living room into an augmented reality gaming arena by expanding graphics from the confines of your TV, won't be baked in time for the next-gen Xbox, the company has confirmed. The projection technology, which uses Kinect to digitally map a room and then digitally overlay dynamically changing graphics linked to the on-screen entertainment, will be shown off in concept form this year, Microsoft Research's Hrvoje Benko and Brett Jones confirmed to Engadget, but is nowhere near ready for commercial release.

Xbox 720 IllumiRoom integration demo suggests “Infinity” experience

This week Microsoft has presented a concept for a system they call IllumiRoom, one made to show how the television could be expanded upon with a series of projectors. This system has been pegged for possible integration for the Xbox 720 - also known as the Xbox Infinity - a system Microsoft will announce in one form or another on the 21st of May at Microsoft's Xbox campus. With Microsoft's IllumiRoom, gamers will be using a combination of the Xbox's Kinect sensor and a projector to bring a room-wide peripheral view experience enhancement to the Xbox 720.

Xbox 720 detail leaks suggest “Xbox Infinity” as new name

A new image discovered by users from both Twitter and Reddit suggest that the Xbox 720 may be released as the "Xbox Infinity". The image shows off the Xbox Infinity logo and it's followed by the tagline, "Infinite entertainment. Infinite possibilities." which compliments Microsoft's efforts to make the Xbox more than just a gaming console. However, of course the leaked image has been received with much criticism, especially from Forbes, whose Microsoft source sent them a differently-styled Xbox logo.
