Demand for Microsoft's Xbox 360 has slumped, with underwhelming sales pushing the company's usually high-flying Entertainment & Devices Division to post an atypical loss. While Microsoft's overall made a profit in Q1 2012, the Xbox team saw a 16-percent decrease in profit in its division. The company blamed lower demand for the aging console, as well as increased research, development and marketing costs for Windows Phone, which also falls under the divisional umbrella. Microsoft is giving its non-paying Xbox Live customers another one of its Xbox Live Gold preview weekends from April 19 to April 23, but unlike in the past, this one won't give users the ability to participate in online games. The only premium features that are being unlocked are things like Netflix, Vudu, and Crackle - the online entertainment features. Xbox 720 rumored to have 16-core CPU

Another day, another next-generation console rumor. Once again, the specifications for the Xbox 720 are being hinted at. Previously we’d heard that the Xbox 720 will come in two flavours: a low-power and basic ARM version that will run apps, and the “main” console. The more powerful of the two was tipped to have two GPUs that could render graphics independant of each other, and a new rumor indicates the Xbox 720 could have a CPU with 16 cores.
