Lenovo X200t Tablet PC breaks cover

, Aug 24th 2008 Discuss [0]

The first live photo of Lenovo's ThinkPad X200t Tablet PC has appeared, not long after the existence of the ultraportable itself was confirmed by the FCC.  Looking unsurprisingly similar to the ThinkPad X61t it replaces, the convertible notebook has a pen-enabled touchscreen and seems to continue the traditional "built like a tank" design ethos. , Jul 17th 2008 Discuss [0]

The promise of a sub-$1k full-sized Tablet PC is a tempting one, especially with students eyeing up the latest hardware with the Fall semester fast approaching.  HP are well known for their pen-computing range, and while headlines this week have focused on the new 2730p, complete with Centrino 2 technology, its their cheaper Pavilion tx2500z that will likely find more buyers.  Initial hands-on suggested this could be a Tablet to watch out for, and Tablet PC Review are back with a thorough review of the Puma-powered machine. Lenovo X200 new specs & photos emerge

, Jun 19th 2008 Discuss [0]

Lenovo's upcoming ThinkPad X200 ultraportable, which was recently tipped in a company presentation, has been spotted and profiled by 51nb, a Chinese notebook forum.  Not only did they dig up two new images of the ultraportable, but the spec sheet too; we now know that it uses a 45nm Intel Centrino 2 + VPro Core 2 Duo CPU running at up to 2.4GHz, has a 12-inch WXGA LCD screen (or, in the case of the Tablet version, a touchscreen) and an SSD storage option alongside conventional hard-drives. Over the weekend a whole shed-load of new Lenovo notebook information turned up, including details of upcoming X200, SL, T, and R series machines.  The leaked slides give preliminary specs for numerous new models, of which the X200 - which is set to replace the X61 - is perhaps the most interesting.  Full run-down after the cut, together with apparent confirmation that Lenovo are planning a Tablet PC version of the X200 measuring between 0.81" and 1.21" inches in thickness. Lenovo opts for widescreen-only in mainstream notebook range

, Apr 21st 2008 Discuss [0]

Lenovo has hammered another nail into the 4:3 laptop display coffin with the quiet removal of its standard ratio T61 from its online store.  It means that all of the company's mainstream notebooks - whether in the ThinkPad, IdeaPad or 3000-series lines - are only available with widescreen LCDs.  The X61 - in Lenovo's ultraportable range and produced in standard and Tablet PC versions - is now the only remaining 4:3 option. Lenovo x61/x60 Tablet PC HDD errors require firmware update

If you’ve booted up your x61 or x60 tablet recently and received and error 2100 boot error, it’s from your hard drive. Apparently there is a new firmware update available for the drives. Mr. Faulkner had to find this out the hard way as he was on the verge of sending his tablet in for repair for the same issue for a second time before he found the fix. If you have received this error, all you have to do is find the proper firmware update, burn the ISO to a disk, insert it and boot to the disc, do the update, and then everything should work fine without erasing all your date. Tablet PC showdown: HP 2710p and Lenovo ThinkPad X61 face to face

, Oct 3rd 2007 Discuss [1]

Comparing Tablet PCs can be a tricky task, since they're still relatively rare out in the real world.  And when someone finally does find one and buy it, they could feasibly never come into contact with another and never get the opportunity to see how it stands up against rivals.  So, it's entirely possible that HP's 2710p and Lenovo's ThinkPad X61 might never have met on the battle-field, except for the fact that the Houston Chronicle's Dwight Silverman decided to pull the two Tablet PCs in for a head-to-head.   Read The Full Story

HP’s 2710p Tablet PC gets FCC approval, includes mobile broadband

, Jul 3rd 2007 Discuss [0]

It's still no tc1100 replacement, but HP Compaq's latest Tablet PC is likely to win some hearts nevertheless going from its reception after appearing on the FCC site. We first heard of it at the beginning of the year, and even saw pre-production versions a few months ago, but with FCC approval it can't be far from sale. Rocking WiFi in a/b/n flavours, Bluetooth and an optional HSDPA or EV-DO cellular broadband module (hence the dinky aerial poking out of the top), it promises seamless connectivity which is always a plus when coupled with a mobile design.
