Passbook app revealed at WWDC 2012

The iPhone will soon be getting a much easier way to keep track of all of your mobile-based passes, be then movie passes, airplane tickets, or Apple store receipts, with an app called Passbook. This application will work with brands such as Target, Major League Baseball, United Airlines, Amtrak, Starbucks, and Fandango for movie tickets right out of the box. Apple made the application seem very possibly game-changing (or not?) with the following: "Is Apple answering a question no one asked with this one? Possibly. Or this will change you life."

Apple touts massive iOS 5 adoption at WWDC 2012

This week at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference it was announced that iOS was not only doing quite well on its own, it was eating Android's lunch as far as installed user base was concerned. Scott Forstall mentioned that 365 million iOS devices were sold through March 30th, 2012, and of those, the vast majority were working with iOS 5. This was compared to Android where only a small sliver of the pie was dedicated to Android 4.0, their newest version.

A brand new bit of software has been introduced this week at Apple's WWDC 2012 called Power Nap, an application that allows your computer to continue working while you're asleep. This software takes applications like notes, iPhoto, Calendar, and Mail, and "keeps your Mac up to date while it sleeps." This software will keep your data backed up at all times, even while your computer is asleep - like magic!

Massive App Store expansion hits WWDC 2012

This week Tim Cook began at WWDC 2012 by speaking about how gigantic the iTunes App Store had become, ringing in the new season with no less than 400 million store accounts. This fact was blessed with a massive 650,000 apps on the App Store with a giant 225,000 of them made for the iPad specifically. Cook let the audience know that the 30 billionth download had been made recently from the App Store, this certainly giving the whole set of attendees a sense of confidence in the future of the ecosystem.

WWDC 2012 Keynote gets pre-event Black Banner tease

The fabled Black Banner is back this morning at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2012 as we ramp up to the main event with our own live feed and stream, it likely containing that one big reveal we've been waiting for! This event is sure to be the home of a brand new version of Apple's mobile operating system iOS 6, we've seen a banner showing off what appears to be a slightly new iteration of Apple's AirPlay, and of course there's the Black Banner (photographed by @SaschaSegan) which will almost certainly be revealed during or directly after the first keynote. We expect it'll be something fabulous like a brand new MacBook Pro 2012 model or a showing of the final features of OS X Mountain Lion - let's have a peek at what's possible!
