Microsoft prepping Cortana to compete with Google Now and Siri

Android users have Google Now, iPhone users have Siri and assuming these latest reports prove to be accurate, Windows Phone users will have Cortana. Well, more specifically, Windows Phone users will have a digital personal assistant that competes with Google Now and Siri. For now the Cortana name appears to be nothing more than a code, but final name aside -- the evidence does appear to be mounting.

Ricoh Theta hands-on: 360 panoramas in a single shot

Just about any modern smartphone can shoot a panoramic photo these days, and some even a 360-degree photo, but it's a time-consuming process; Ricoh wants to change all that with the Theta, capable of capturing a full spherical image in a single snap. Rather than the ponderous snap-and-stitch that builds up a 360 shot from individual frames, the Theta pairs two 5-megapixel sensors on either side of a slim bar that can collectively grab all the data simultaneously. Asphalt 8: Airborne launches with NVIDIA SHIELD, Tesla Model S, barrel rolls

The 8th generation of Gameloft's rather successful racing game franchise is out today for both iOS and Android devices in Asphalt 8: Airborne. This game takes another step toward making a truly worthy translation of the 2008 movie Speed Racer to the gaming universe. Though it's not Gameloft saying they're doing so, it certainly appears as if the closest game to the mark (in Asphalt 7) has been outdone by this 2013 Asphalt 8 release.
