WikiLeaks recovers from massive DDoS attack

WikiLeaks has recovered from a massive DDoS attack that lasted three days, during which it had to shift much of its content to mirror sites. It's unclear which hacker group or individual may be responsible for the attack, but a former Anonymous member by the name Nyre has already claimed credit for a similar DDoS attack on The Pirate Bay earlier this week that lasted over 24 hours. This week the customers of global intelligence firm Stratfor fell victim to the hacker amalgamation known as Anonymous, and starting today the folks at Dazzlepod have made a webpage available where you, the user, can check your email to make sure you weren't amongst those hit. The Dazzlepod collective has a searchable database which includes all of the information stolen and dumped by Anonymous over the past few attacks, this able to be searched by you to see if your email is amongst those compromised. WikiLeaks documents show Apple’s battle with Chinese piracy

It's been a long time since we heard anything from WikiLeaks. Some recently leaked documents have outlined some of the methods that Apple has taken to stomp out piracy over the years in China. The document is a cable from the Beijing embassy that shows Apple formed a team in March 2008 to fight piracy inside the country. Lulzsec spokesperson Topiary arrested by British e-police

UK police have reportedly arrested Lulzsec spokesperson Topiary, in a snatch that saw the unnamed 19 year old detained at a residential address in the Shetland Islands. LuzSec, the group that preciously took credit for hacking the website for Sony BMG in Japan, has claimed credit for cracking PBS’s website and posting all of its login credentials. According to LuzSec, they were “less than impressed” with the Frontline coverage of the WikiLeaks special entitled WikiSectrets. Is Elmo next? Who knows what Oscar the Grouch has hidden away in that trash can of his. Apparently LuzSec was not the only one critical of the WikiLeaks special. Anonymous denies Sony PSN “We are Legion” calling card

Hacking collective Anonymous has reportedly denied being responsible for planting a file seemingly incriminating itself in the PlayStation Network hack, suggesting that instead the group has been framed by whoever completed the exploit and stole millions of user records and credit card data. Kazuo Hirai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sony Computer Entertainment America, had told a US subcommittee investigating data theft that the file - named Anonymous and containing the phrase "We are Legion" - was discovered on one of the hacked Sony Online Entertainment servers. Anonymous has been picking up operations in the wake of WikiLeaks. They are known for spreading their doctrinal messages through YouTube. Today, the folks over at YouTube said, "enough is enough" and pulled the three videos for Operation Sony, Operation Sony Update and Operation Black Out citing Terms of Service violations. Operation Black Out is the most recent video posted by the international hacktivist collective. They voiced their position regarding New Zealand's new copyright legislation, the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Bill. It appears that Sony has found themselves under attack by none other than that hacker group who's been rapidly gaining global attention via stories re: their attacks on the Westboro Baptist Church and opponents of Wikileaks, the collective known as "Anonymous." Eric Schmidt, while speaking at the special Google keynote series at Mobile World Congress 2011 began by showing a video editing app called Movie Studio. The overarching theme here seems to be control of the technology rather than the technology controlling the user. Using apps to bring you where you want to go rather than just finding results on what time it is in the place you wish you were. He mentioned monetization of provisional software (like lots and lots of money from Google Adsense via Android,) and moved on into disruption. Disruption here is essentially the switch from non-internet commerce to an internet-based economy where supply is essentially infinite. Read The Full Story
