iPhone 5s shipping cut to 2-3 weeks, Gold to November

iPhone 5s shipping cut to 2-3 weeks, Gold to November

It would appear that Apple's supply of the iPhone 5s has been safely restored to near-normal as the "October" shipping time has been reduced to 2-3 weeks. Now that we're inside October, it certainly wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to stick with the October shipping time note, but up on Apple.com you'll now find no change-over to November. This means good things for those users looking for the Gold iPhone 5s specifically, as the device has been sold out and many locations across the nation for the last couple of weeks.

Gold iPhone 5s madness reaches fever pitch: China turns to stickers

Gold iPhone 5s madness reaches fever pitch: China turns to stickers

Desperation has nearly set in for seekers of the gold iPhone 5s in China - and it's not just Apple that's cashing in. What's appearing now are massive amounts of standardized shiny gold stickers for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5, each of them made to make the non-gold editions of the device look a bit more up-to-speed. Retailers have begun selling gold iPhone stickers "in the thousands" according to some reports, with no end in sight as China's obsession with the color strikes hard.

Why the gold iPhone 5s is a hit

Why the gold iPhone 5s is a hit

Apple’s decision to build a gold-colored iPhone 5s is about more than just offering another color to consumers. For one thing, the margins are quite high on the device, and the more colors it offers, the more money it can make. But there’s more to the gold iPhone than meets the eye at first blush: it’ll be the bestselling iPhone yet.

As history has proven, Apple’s customers really, really like when the company delivers new colors to its handsets. When Apple started selling the white iPhone, for example, it became an immediate hit.

iPhone 5s in gold first to sell out: reports of boosted production

Starting at 8AM local time here in the United States (that's local whatever time zone you're in), the iPhone 5s will be going on sale - and at midnight (this morning) the iPhone 5s in gold was the first to start flying off digital shelves. It's become readily apparent not only online, where at Apple's online store you'll find the gold iPhone 5s kicked back to a general October ship date, but in store openings across the nation (through mountain time, at this point) that the gold iPhone 5s is headed for short supply. Meanwhile those satisfied with their older-model iPhones appear to be asking line-goers and online sources in droves: when does iOS 7 come out? Good news: it was released Wednesday, two full days before the iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c hit the hands of consumers.

iPhone 5c Review

iPhone 5c Review

Could the iPhone 5c be the most misunderstood iPhone so far? From early whispers of a budget model for emerging markets, though chatter of a new entry-level phone, the iPhone 5c in fact slots right in the middle of Apple's range, relegating last year's flagship to early retirement and leaving the iPhone 4S to survive another day. It also borrows some color from the iPod line, not to mention launching with iOS 7 and a case material we've not seen since the days of the 3GS. So, plastic fantastic? Read on as we put the iPhone 5c through its paces in the full SlashGear review.

iPhone 5s Review

iPhone 5s Review

We've come to expect evolution not revolution from the "S" update to Apple's iPhone range, but the iPhone 5s could be enough to buck that trend. Inside the familiar metal casing beats a new processor, the Apple A7, making the iPhone 5s the first smartphone - and iOS 7 the first smartphone platform - to transition to 64-bit; the home button has lost its square sigil but gained a biometric sensor that might be the first to actually convince owners to use it; and the camera may still be 8-megapixels in resolution on paper, but those pixels - and the way Apple uses them - are quantifiably better than before. Does that make the iPhone 5s the automatic choice in smartphones? Read on for our full review.

iPhone 5s and 5c arrive Friday: sold out in China, lines in USA and Japan

You might not know it, but the iPhone 5s has already gone on sale in China and subsequently sold out - every single size and color. This doesn't mean that places like Japan or the United States should worry, as there is separate stock for each different region, but it just goes to show: the lines at 5th Avenue in NYC and in the Ginza district in Japan may not be there without purpose. It's quite possible Apple will sell out of iPhones this time around.
