Budget TV company Vizio will extend its reach into computing, beginning with a range of new models to be showcased at CES 2012 next week. CTO Matt McRae confirmed the segue and a June launch window – along with ”a price that just doesn’t seem possible” – to Bloomberg in an interview about the company’s PC plans, following up with a gallery of eye-catching desktop and laptop renders to whet our appetite ahead of the show next week. When the year 2011 is looked back upon by the Google historians, they’ll mark it as the first time they officially made an effort to bring the Android platform to devices with displays larger than handheld smartphones – what we saw, as a result, was everything from the XOOM to the ASUS Transformer Prime. The folks at Google created a version of their mobile operating system Android titled Honeycomb and numbered version 3.0. This operating system began its life in the wild on the Motorola XOOM, a 10.1-inch tablet that by the end of the year would be replaced by the XYBOARD, a tablet which physically in weight and thickness to the iPad 2 – the dominant force in the tablet space throughout the vast majority of this past year.

Panasonic Toughpad A1 and Toughpad B1 Android tablets revealed

This week the folks at Panasonic have revealed one tablet and named a second, the first being the Toughpad A1, a 10.1-inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet with a processor from no less than Marvell, the most elusive chipmaker of all. Of course Marvell has appeared in mobile devices before, but the last time we spoke about them in regards to a mobile device was in the Vizio Tablet, then before that was a Chinese smartphone and on the Chumby 8. Vizio Tablet gets VIA Plus 1.2 software update

The Vizio Tablet has gotten a software update that promises to enhance overall performance. A somewhat laggy interface was a major issue that plagued the otherwise favorable budget-friendly tablet. Windows Phone Mango is now rumored for a September 1 launch with Nokia confirming closure of its US Symbian and feature phone operations.
