Verizon iPhone 4 rumors flourish as analyst tips CDMA manufacture in Dec 2010

The CDMA iPhone 4 rumors continue to circulate, with Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Jeffrey Fidacaro latest to speculate on the Verizon version of the Apple smartphone.  According to his latest investor note, his checks with overseas suppliers indicate Apple is on track to produce three million CDMA iPhone 4 handsets in December, with a launch likely to take place in early 2011.

The Verizon iPhone 4 rumor rears its head once more, with speculation that Apple is using a rented production line separate to their mainstream Foxconn facility to develop alternate versions of the fourth-generation smartphone.  The facility - which is being used while a new $100m production line is built - is currently staffed by over 500 Foxconn employees; Computerworld suggests that a CDMA iPhone 4 could be in development, however there's also the possibility of alternate antenna designs being explored.

Earlier this week it was reported that European carriers were stockpiling new nano-SIM cards after the standard had been approved by the ETSI. Speculation followed that Apple was preparing nano-SIM usage for the next iPhone, with one source even claiming that Apple had already designed the next iPhone around its own unapproved nano-SIM standard. Following reports that the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx had surpassed Apple's iPhone 4S in sales at Verizon, another report by Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley says it isn't so. During an event in SF, Verizon's Chief Financial Officer, Fran Shammo, revealed that the company had sold 4.2 million iPhones during the holiday quarter, reports Bloomberg. That number is more than double the 2 million iPhones the company sold in the previous quarter, when it was lagging behind AT&T, and also surpasses AT&T's all-time high of 4.1 million iPhones sold.

Verizon Q2 2011: 2.2m new customers but iPhone 4 sales slow

Verizon has announced its Q2 2011 financial results, adding twice as many subscribers as AT&T managed and activating 2.3m iPhone 4 handsets. The carrier saw its consolidated revenue hit $27.5bn, up 6.3-percent compared to the same period a year ago, while wireless data revenues rose 22.2-percent and ARPU (the monthly average revenue per user) climbed 3.2-percent to $54.12. However, iPhone 4 sales slowed over the quarter in comparison to Q1 2011.
