Galaxy Note 5, S6 edge+ get revealing leaked photos again

We're this close to Samsung's Unpacked event so naturally everyone's trying to get last minute leaks and insider tips before they're all either invalidated or confirmed officially. This latest bit comes from China again, revealing the two upcoming smartphones in all their retail glory. Of course, we can't really be sure about their accuracy, but they do seem to match everything we've heard or seen so far. And sadly, they do also confirm some of what we've feared, at least for the Galaxy Note 5.

Galaxy S6 and Edge prices drops begin to take effect in USA

Samsung's price cuts for both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have begun to take effect near the eve of the reveal of the Galaxy Note 5. This was foretold by Samsung itself, as the company's last quarterly earnings report revealed lackluster sales of both devices. While it was suggested that sales didn't add up because of manufacturing difficulties, the results are these: one hundred dollars knocked off the prices of either device in the market, starting in the United States with T-Mobile USA.

Galaxy Note 5 event may have a tablet, too

A teaser has been released by Samsung for the next big "Unpacked" event showing not just the Galaxy Note 5 and larger "Edge", but a tablet too. This larger tablet is likely a 7-inch tablet made to take on the likes of the missing 7-inch spot in Google's collection and the iPad mini. Whether or not it will have an S Pen is moot - though the non-appearance of a stylus popping out in this teaser seems to suggest it'll be without.

The Gear A will have a rotating bezel, Samsung confirms

While all eyes are on the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ for next month's Samsung event, there is one little guy that will also be vying for the spotlight. And by little, we mean smartwatch size. Yes, the Gear A/Orbis might also be making a debut in two weeks time and it might be Samsung's most significant smartwatch yet. Unless you consider its other smartwatches significant. And no, it won't be because of the stubborn Tizen OS inside. This time, it's all about the bezels.

Final Galaxy Note 5 images release herald August event

Final Galaxy Note 5 images release herald August event

Today images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have appeared in their final form, looking just about as near-official as they're going to get. While these are still renderings - much in the same way all smartphone companies release renderings for ad material - they're as close to the real deal as you're going to see for the moment, just a few weeks away from the real thing. Here the Galaxy Note 5 is looking pretty spiffy, complete with an industrial design finesse matched only by the Galaxy S6 Edge, its little sibling.

Galaxy Note 5 release date, specs, 4GB RAM, curved backside [UPDATE]

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be curved, but not in the place you'd expect. The Galaxy Note 5 be launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus - a device with a curved front display, likely at an event this August. Instead of having a curved display itself, the Galaxy Note 5 will have a curved backside, perfect for the edges of your palm. In this way the device will seem thinner than before while it maintains a metal frame and innards to stay tough.

Samsung Galaxy S6: every detail we know

Galaxy S6 details teased in Samsung video

Galaxy S6 details teased in Samsung video

This week the folks at Samsung are preparing for release of the Galaxy S6 with a new teaser video. This is "The Next Galaxy", as they've said the past several years, the next big thing to come from Samsung in smartphone form. This device appears to be very flat and without edge-faring displays. There's a second phone, more than likely, making this a double-release, but for now we're limited to this video bit. It's very short, and really doesn't say one whole heck of a lot.

Samsung Galaxy S6 tipped to ship with Microsoft apps

Samsung Galaxy S6 tipped to ship with Microsoft apps

While Samsung's Galaxy line of smartphone are often seen as one of the flagship Android devices, the manufacturer's default apps that come with the TouchWiz interface leave a lot to be desired. Mostly the ability to delete them. The apps do little more than take up storage space and slow the operating system down; in other words, bloatware. However, that trend may finally change with the S6, as an insider report from SamMobile is saying Samsung will drop its own apps in favor of shipping the smartphone with Microsoft offerings.

Gear VR headset released with AT&T and Samsung

This week the folks at Samsung have pushed their Gear VR virtual reality headset to the public as an Innovator Edition. This is akin to the Explorer Edition of Google Glass in that it's not necessarily meant to be a consumer device in the traditional sense. You can buy this VR headset for use with your Galaxy Note 4 through AT&T starting December 12th or straight through Samsung starting this week. This device works with the Galaxy Note 4 exclusively - and you'll need one to make this headset do anything.

Oculus talks Gear VR: “Science fiction made real”

Samsung's Gear VR may have a long and unwieldy official name - the Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition powered by Oculus - but it's also the result of a lengthy development process, the virtual reality company says. Facebook-owned Oculus and Samsung worked together for a year on the project, with Oculus' John Carmack coming on-stage during Samsung's Unpacked event today to detail the depths the South Korean company gave access to in the Galaxy Note 4 so that the virtual reality HUD would work.
