ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Slate EP121 officially priced & dated

ASUS has confirmed availability and pricing of the Eee Pad Transformer and the Eee Slate EP121, the company's two new tablets. The Tegra 2 based Android 3.0 Honeycomb Transformer will drop on April 6 - pre-orders will kick off today - priced at £379 ($608) for the 16GB version and £429 ($688) for the 32GB version. Throwing in the optional keyboard - which also has an integrated battery that boosts runtimes to 16hrs - bumps the 16GB model to £429. A 3G model will follow on in around two months time.

ASUS has officially launched its first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, a 10.1-inch slate promising up to 16hrs runtime when used with the battery-toting keyboard dock. Running Honeycomb on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 processor and fronted by a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS touchscreen display, the Transformer has a pair of cameras and optional 3G connectivity.

The ASUS Eee Slate EP121 has gone up for sale in the UK, priced at £999.99 ($1,627) and with shipping expected on April 20 2011. Your money gets you a 12.1-inch 1280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen, 1.86GHz Intel Core i5-470UM processor, 64GB of SSD storage and Intel HD graphics, but rather than running Android or some other smartphone platform, it gets a full copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

ASUS snap up Tegra 2 chips for March 2011 Eee Pad EP90 launch

Further evidence for ASUS' leaked Eee Pad EP90 tablet has emerged, with the word coming out of Taipei that the company has ordered 200k to 300k NVIDIA Tegra 2 chips.  According to the source, ASUS will initially use the second-gen Tegra in the EP90, which supposedly runs Windows 7 Embedded on an 8.9-inch touchscreen, and then on smartphones capable of 3D gaming and Full HD media playback.

ASUS prices Eee Pad range: $399 Android EP101TC, $1k EP121

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen has confirmed pricing for the company's upcoming tablet range, with their Android-based model slipping in beneath the iPad's base price.  According to PCWorld, the ASUS Eee Pad EP101TC will cost under $399 when it arrives in March 2011, and will be the third in the company's new line-up; first will be the ASUS Eee Pad EP121, announced back at Computex and set to cost around $1,000.
