As you may or may not know, every device has at least two names - one that its manufacturer gives it, this name sometimes never seeing the light of day, and a second name which a carrier may give it. In the case of the HTC Ruby, we may never see the device be released with the lovely jewel name attached to it - instead today we've got news that this cool futuristic mother of a smartphone will be dubbed "HTC Amaze 4G" for its release on USA carrier T-Mobile, and may well be released right alongside the Samsung Hercules relatively soonish. In my possession I have HTC's latest attempt at a slider. This here is the myTouch 4G Slide running over on T-Mobile with those super fast 4G speeds. It takes everything you liked about the myTouch 4G and adds those few features we liked in the 3G slide and poof -- we have the myTouch 4G Slide. This bad boy has a dual-core 1.2 Ghz CPU and a slide out QWERTY keyboard to keep you all busy. I must admit though, the camera is pretty neat too. Head on past the break for more details!

HTC bootloader unlock starts August for Sensation and EVO 3D

HTC has announced that it will begin the process of unlocking the bootloaders on its Android phones from August, with the HTC Sensation first on the list. Having confirmed back in May that it was changing its policy on locked bootloaders for future handsets, HTC had been unclear on when - or even if - it would be updating existing devices to support the same third-party ROM flexibility. The news this weekend, however, makes devices like the Sensation and the EVO 3D far more appealing to advanced Android users.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide official: QWERTY Android with boosted camera

T-Mobile has officially announced the myTouch 4G Slide, the carrier's latest Android smartphone and another QWERTY handset from HTC. Packing HSPA+ connectivity for T-Mobile USA's 4G network, the myTouch 4G Slide has a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen and an 8-megapixel camera; it's that camera which the carrier is most proud of, though, with improved low-light performance thanks to a new f/2.2 wide aperture lens and a backlit sensor, along with the claim of zero shutter lag and in-camera HDR.
