Sony announces Xperia Z3+ as new flagship

Well, it seems the "plus" naming convention is here to stay, folks. Oppo recently debuted its R7 Plus in China, and now it's Sony's turn. The company has just announced the Xperia Z3+, the international release of the Xperia Z4, its name in the Japanese market. While it may not look much different from last year's Z3, there is more than enough in this update to qualify it for this year's flagship. It's currently scheduled for release sometime this summer, however Sony hasn't confirmed final pricing yet.

Sony event in India could be for the Xperia Z4

If the stars align, we might actually get to see the Sony Xperia Z4, as it is known in Japan, head outside the Land of the Rising Sun, contrary to earlier assurances that the weird device is a Japan-only affair. Sony sent out invitations in India for an event dated May 26, and although the aquatic theme of the invite suggests the Xperia M4 Aqua, there are whispers that it might actually be intended for the start of the global launch of the Xperia Z4 instead.

Sony scolded for 20th Anniversary PS4’s unfair contest

Remember back in December when Sony announced the 20th Anniversary Edition of the PlayStation 4, with only 12,300 units to be sold worldwide? Well, the company has received a scolding of sorts over how the limited edition console was sold in the UK. Here in the U.S., the system was thrown up on a website at a random time, and whoever could click "checkout" fast enough was a winner. Unfortunately for those in Britain, the process was much more convoluted, and involved a contest of sorts that focused on solving riddles from a website. Potential buyers were left frustrated, and now their complains have been recognized.

Sony is making a Jump Street and Men in Black crossover movie

Sony to brand Xperia Z4 as Xperia Z3+ in other markets

Sony to brand Xperia Z4 as Xperia Z3+ in other markets

It seems that Sony might have become a bit unhinged in its efforts to hunker down on its somewhat floundering mobile business. First, it rather quietly unveiled the Xperia Z4, which may or may not be limited to the Japanese market. And then there are whispers of an Xperia P2 that looks terribly similar except in a few areas. Now there is word that Sony might actually sell the Xperia Z4 in other markets as well, but quite appropriately name it as the Xperia Z3+ instead.

Today, Sony is adding six more members to that family: four sound bars and two AV receivers. Boasting more than just high-quality audio components that Sony is known for, these audio products also bring along the ability to play protected 4K content as well as support for Google's hottest streaming feature, Google Cast.

Sony’s 2015 UHD 4K TV lineup: Android TV, ridiculously thin

Sony has just unveiled another team of Ultra HD Smart TVs, but this time the focus isn't on curves like its rivals in the industry. Sony's 2015 4K lineup is somewhat a bit more traditional but still a bit groundbreaking. For one, they are one of the few Smart TVs that have started bearing Android TV inside, finally making the ancient dream of "Google TVs" finally come true. And for another, at least two of them are so thin that they are thinner than the thinnest smartphone.
