Sony Reader PRS-T3 won’t be launched in US due to market changes

On September 5, Sony rolled out the red carpet for its latest Sony Reader, the PRS-T3 with a built-in snap cover and touchscreen display. Since then, the Reader has gone up for sale in Europe, Canada, and elsewhere while interested buyers in the US were left waiting for more information. Unfortunately, that wait has been in vain, with Sony saying it won't be for sale in the United States.

Sony aims to cut down on “leakage” of prototype handsets

Leaks are common, and provide details and looks at what companies are up to before they get around to officially showing off their goods. Sony in particular experienced quite a few leaks this year, particularly of its Xperia Z1 "Honami" smartphone, so much so that the eventual unveiling revealed little that we didn't already know. Sony Cyber-shot QX100 detailed for September release as Lens Camera flagship

This week the team at Sony have revealed two new "Lens-Type Cameras", the larger of these being the Cyber-shot QX100. This device comes with a 1-inch 20.2-megapixel Exmor RCMOS sensor identical to that of the sensor found in the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II, delivering "exceptionally detailed" shots in all manner of lighting conditions - day or night. This camera also works with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with no less than a BIONZ image processor inside.

One of two new "Lens-Type Cameras" to be revealed this week is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-QX10, coming in with an 18.2-megapixel Exmor RCMOS sensor and a Sony G Lens with 10x optical zoom. This is the smaller of the first two Lens Cameras to be revealed by the manufacturer, this device (obviously) also the more easily portable of the pair. This device weighs in at less than 4 ounces and measures in at 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.3-inches.

In an effort to create a bridge between standard smartphones and high-powered cameras, Sony has this week unveiled their Lens-Style Camera series with the Sony QX100 and QX10. These devices are also known as the Sony Cyber-shot QX100 and Sony Cyber-shot QX10, but you'll likely see them referred to by their shortened names out in the wild more often than not. These devices were made by Sony for hobby photographers who wish to photograph or take video of everyday events, sharing them immediately thereafter. Attaching a Lens-Style Camera to your smartphone is as easy as a tap (with NFC) and a hook-up physically with an extendable magnetic attachment piece.

Leaks dealing with the Sony Honami have been plentiful. And thankfully, more recently we began seeing some teasing come direct from Sony as well. Sony will be announcing the Honami during IFA and the handset is expected to arrive as the Xperia Z1. While Sony has yet to confirm the full set of specs, we have seen just about everything leak and as of today it looks like the official press images have surfaced by way of an unnamed Asian retailer. Though we've seen the Sony "Lens Camera" devices appear connected to smartphones before, today a set of press photos suggests that the user might be able to use these devices without a companion smart unit at all. Where before we'd assumed that it was the smartphone - or tablet - that allowed a Sony Lens Camera to be controlled, today a set of photos that very much appear to be press-quality (aka real from Sony, more than likely) show a couple of users working with these devices without being physically attached to the smartphone in hand.
