Sony VAIO Pro 11 and 13 are world’s lightest touchscreen ultrabooks

The Sony VAIO Pro 11 and VAIO Pro 13 are being hailed as the lightest ultrabooks with a touchscreen in their respective classes, with the smaller unit weighing about 1.9lbs and the larger weighing about 2.3lbs. Both are constructed from carbon fiber, adding an element of durability to their svelte frames. As with the VAIO Duo 13 announced earlier this evening, both the VAIO Pro laptops will be available the middle of this month.

Sony VAIO P USA preorders today from $800

Sony's colorful new VAIO P refresh has been confirmed for a US launch, and in fact the 8-inch ultraportable will imminently be going up for preorder from around $800.  That's $200 less than the current model retails for, though we're yet to see a complete specification comparison.  Still, the new VAIO P does get an updated range of Intel Atom Z5xx series processors which should hopefully churn a little faster than the first-gen version.

Sony VAIO P refreshed: 3G, accelerometer & more

Remember Sony Japan's paperclip-toting teaser campaign a few weeks back?  Turns out, that paperclip is the new Sony VAIO P ultraportable in cross-section; the Japanese company has refreshed its 8-inch slimline notebook, with the new VAIO P getting a choice of Intel Atom Z530, Z540 or Z560 processors, a 64GB SSD, an accelerometer for automatically flipping screen orientation and integrated 3G and GPS.

Sony VAIO P overclocked to 2.4GHz

A page of CrystalMark benchmark results may not be the most interesting image to lead with, but when you're showing the overclock results of pushing Sony's VAIO P not-a-netbook from its stock 1.86GHz up to 2.3GHz, then we'll take notice.  EeeUser Forum member Cerano was responsible for the modifications, and in fact got his VAIO P cranked up to 2.4GHz (though he didn't benchmark it at that speed).
