Sony Torne digital TV tuner for Japanese PS3 announced

As well as the 250GB PS3, Sony Japan have also announced a new digital TV tuner peripheral for the console.  The Sony Torne will drop in March 2010, and offer Japanese buyers a way to watch digital terrestrial TV broadcasts on their PS3, together with PVR functionality that allows for recording content (either to the PS3's HDD or a connected USB 2.0 drive) even while the PS3 is being used for gaming, Blu-ray playback or just in standby mode.

Sony Pictures demands hacked data be deleted

The Press has been issued a demand from Sony Pictures that all leaked information from the recent hack of their systems be deleted. This demand was made with regard to the hack that's rumored to have been executed by North Korea in retaliation for the release of the movie The Interview. This movie depicts a humorous take on an assassination attempt on the leader of North Korea, and North Korea was presumably not especially happy to hear that it was being made.

Sony nasne PVR delayed after hard-drive damage

Sony has confirmed that its nasne networked PVR has been delayed, blaming unexpected damage to internal components and a shortfall in quality inspections at the factory. nasne, which can stream live TV and recorded content from its integrated tuners and 500GB hard-drive to the PS3 and other hardware, was expected to go on sale this Thursday in Japan, but Sony now says there will be a postponement of unspecified length.

Sony nasne PVR squirts TV to VAIO, Vita, PS3 and Xperia

Sony has outed a new universal media tuner and recorder, the Sony nasne, intended for use across its PS3, VAIO computer and smartphone/tablet ranges, and the first step in the newly-harmonized "One Sony" business. A PS3-lookalike with digital terrestrial and satellite tuners along with a 500GB hard-drive for recording shows, nasne will allow Sony tablets, phones or other gadgets to access its recordings across the network, as well as being able to stream live video to up to two devices at once.

Sony’s insurance company sues to deny data breach coverage

It's been a while now since we heard anything more on the massive security breach that happened to the Sony PSN this year. Sony finally has the entire network up and running again around the world, but it is still predicting a massive loss due to the hack. Last month a report claimed that Sony knew the scale of the attack earlier than it admitted. I never really thought about insurance on Sony's part, but apparently, the company has insurance policies that cover all sorts of contingencies that might affect business.

Sony Targeted for Another Attack this Weekend

Sony has been a major target of hackers ever since it's ill-fated lawsuit against George "Geohot" Hotz. The PlayStation Network attack has drawn attention from the FBI, the Department of Justice, Congress, and the New York State Attorney General. Sony responded via letter to the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade on Wednesday, defending their response to the PSN attack. Now, it appears that Sony is a target once again. A group of hackers is apparently planning a major attack against Sony's website this weekend.

Sony Japan reveal “PS3 Compatible” HDD labelling scheme

Sony Japan have announced their intention to start a "PS3 Compatible" labelling scheme, which would indicate which third-party external hard drives were compatible with the PlayStation 3 console.  The news was revealed at a press demonstration of the company's Torne digital TV tuner peripheral in Japan recently; the tuner can record footage directly to the PS3's internal HDD, or to any of four simultaneously attached external drives.
