If you think back when the current consoles like the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 hit the market, Sony was left playing catch-up and tacked on a rarely used motion control feature of the PS3 to try and match what the Wii had. If the sketches that are included new Sony patent that surfaced are any indication, Sony isn't ready to let the new Wii U rocking controllers with little LCD screens get the better of it this time around. The Sony patent art is very odd; it shows something that looks more like a tablet or even an eReader then a Wii U controller.

Sony: No PS4 reveal in 2012
Rumors of a new Sony console to be demonstrated at E3 2012 in June have been denied by Sony this week, company gaming chief Kaz Hirai revealing there are no plans to show a new model at the show. Hirai, who has also said that the PS3 is only halfway through its expected 10 year lifespan, suggested that "there is no reason" to depart from that decade-long plan for the existing PlayStation, the WSJ reports, despite speculations on shuffling from within Microsoft's Xbox division.

Over the weekend, I was getting ready to play Gears of War 3 on my Xbox 360, and looked at my selection of game consoles, including the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii, in addition to Microsoft’s hardware. After thinking about all the benefits of those devices, I asked myself a simple question: “which one of those could I simply not live without?”
The $249 PS3 is now the Best Deal in the Business
Sony could very well have made its best decision in years by dropping the price of its PlayStation 3 console $50 earlier this week. Now, consumers can get their hands on the 160GB model for $249 or the 320GB option for $299. And in the process, the company, which also announced a Europe-only PSP, called the E-1000 for £99, has put the onus on Microsoft to respond with a price cut of its own to match its chief competitor.
Sony Answers All Your PS Vita Questions
One of the major announcements kicking off this past week's E3 2011 conference, was Sony's unveiling of the next-generation portable (NGP) now known as the PS Vita. The new portable gaming device boasts front and rear cameras as well as a unique integration of front and rear touch panels into its gameplay among several new features. Sony’s Next PSN Challenge: Restoring Reputation
After weeks of downtime, governmental scrutiny and untold user fury, Sony has finally begun to restore PlayStation Network and Qriocity streaming media services. It’s not been an easy journey, either: it wasn’t just server failure that took the PSN offline, but a security breach that saw millions of consumer records snatched out from under Sony’s nose. With only the slightest publicly-released information to go on, systems experts have looked on in horror as Sony took a forced deep-dive through server strata, uncovering the flaws – in its data centers and its ego – that allowed the hack to take place. Still, Sony may find that restoring the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services were the easy part – rebuilding its ailing reputation may be far trickier.

Geeks are hacking the Microsoft Kinect motion controller all over the place to do all sorts of stuff that it was never meant to do. Several of the hacks have had to do with using the Kinect to control robots. The last time I mentioned a hack it was to control a Roomba vacuum cleaner. Sony wants people in the research and academic communities to hack its Move motion controller too.

Snakebyte to launch first third party PS3 Move controllers in April
Snakebyte is a newer name in the gaming and game console accessory market back at CES the company unveiled a new PS3 Blu-ray remote control and it also has controls for the Wii and lots more. The latest product to be announced by Snakebyte are the first third party Move controllers to be announced. The controllers are design for the PS3 to allow gamers to get in on the motion control action.

PlayStation Move shortages until Feb 2011 warns Sony
Sony has warned of worldwide stock shortages of its Move controller for PS3, with senior marketing VP Peter Dille claiming that the shortfall will likely last into Q1 2011. "We have a catch-up problem in all three territories that will last until January or February" the exec told VentureBeat, admitting that Sony misjudged potential demand for the Move controllers.

Why my Nintendo Wii has been collecting dust
Now, before I start talking about why my Wii has been collecting dust, let me just make this clear: I have been a fan of Nintendo products since the 1980s. And each new Nintendo console typically finds its way into my home on launch day. I also enjoy The Legend of Zelda and the Mario franchise.
But that doesn’t mean that I won’t criticize the Wii.
VUDU 2.0 UI teased; HD PS3 streaming due later this month
VUDU has outed its upcoming UI refresh, VUDU 2.0, as well as promising HD video streaming for the PS3 later this month. The former is optimized for HDTVs with wide-aspect screens, and uses a tabbed organization system; meanwhile the latter will include HD, HDX and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, direct to the console.
