Sony has announced at a press conference this morning that they plan to bring to market two Honeycomb tablets this year. The two tablets are called the S1 and the S2, both of which are still codenames according to Sony. We wrote about the S1 and Sony's CEO alerting us that they will be entering the market with a tablet earlier in the month. It turns out today is the day we get more details on those plans.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play Review

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play Review

Frankly, it's a surprise it's taken them this long. The idea of a PlayStation phone hasn't been so much a persistent rumor as it has a cellular cloud hanging over both Sony and Sony Ericsson. It overshadowed the launch of the PSP Go and has been responsible for untold speculation about terse relations between the divisions. Throw in more pre-announce leaks than average, and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play has quite the reputation to live up to. Can the first gaming-centric Android smartphone deliver both the polished day-to-day experience we now expect, and live up to the PlayStation branding? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Sony Ericsson has unleashed some new advertisements for their upcoming Xperia Play handset, which is set to release around mid-April. Kristen Schaal stars in the line of adverts and shows you the capabilities of the “Playstation phone”, especially the gaming aspects. If you’ve seen some of the recent commercials for the PS3 about gaming, these are in the same vein, but taken to another level.

Sony Ericsson has officially launched the XPERIA Play, its PlayStation gaming phone, at MWC 2011. XPERIA Play advert leaks: Gaming so good you’ll graft on thumbs

Sony has built something of a reputation for itself by putting together unusual, odd or vaguely unpleasant commercials in the past, but Sony Ericsson has outdone itself with its latest Android spot. Just in time for launch of the XPERIA Play at MWC 2011, everybody's favorite Android mascot gets a set of human thumbs grafted on in a leaked spot caught by DROiDNYTT.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc hands-on [Video]

Sony Ericsson has certainly kicked off their 2011 in a strong way, launching the XPERIA Arc at CES 2011 yesterday. We grabbed some hands-on time with the XPERIA Arc today and came away suitably impressed; it's not only thin - 9mm at the ends, and just 8.7mm in the middle - but the 4.2-inch Reality Display takes on Super AMOLED and holds its head up high. More details after the cut.

Tiny Sony Ericsson XPERIA leaks with 1GHz processor punch

The Sony Ericsson Hallon isn't the only leaked handset out of the company; a new, compact Android smartphone has been spotted at IT168, presumed to be the successor to the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini pro. The new phone has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3-inch, 320 x 480 multitouch display; it also boosts the processor over the original X10 mini pro, to a 1GHz chip paired with an Adreno 205 GPU.

Sony PSP plans could include touchscreen

Sony PSP plans could include touchscreen

Sony's PSP Go failed to ignite the mobile gaming market in the way that the company hoped it might, but that hasn't stopped Sony engineers and designers from pushing ahead with another PSP successor. According to Sony's gaming chief, Kazuo Hirai, the company has been looking to the next-gen handheld "since the day" the PlayStation was released, and might use both a touchscreen and traditional physical gaming controls. Meanwhile, Hirai believes there's still a segment of gamers for whom the popular - and cheap - iOS, Android and other mobile games aren't sufficient.
