Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc leaks: 8MP, 4.2″ screen & super-slim [Video]

Sony Ericsson's Anzu has apparently grown up and become the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc, according to the latest leaks, with the super-slim Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone expected to make its official debut at CES 2011 this week. According to Gagadget, the XPERIA Arc measures 125 x 63 x 9 mm - and 8.7 mm at its thinnest point - and has a 4.2-inch 854 x 480 multitouch display with mineral glass.

Sony Ericsson dismisses Windows Phone 7 and tablet rumors

Sony Ericsson France CEO Pierre Perron has confirmed that the cellphone company is in talks with Microsoft regarding the possibility of using Windows Phone 7 for future smartphones, but has suggested that the strict specification and software limits imposed mean the likelihood of adoption is low. "[With] Windows [Phone] 7 we run the risk of standardising our smartphones" he told French newspaper Les Echos, "we would be obliged to fight only on design and price, which we want to avoid."

Sony Ericsson managed to post a profit this past quarter, largely because of their Android efforts, but the company is also looking to Windows Phone 7 to further feather their nest.  CEO Bert Nordberg confirmed Sony Ericsson's Microsoft intentions during the company's financial call, though failed to give any specific details beyond a 2011 expected launch window.  Sales overall were €1.6bn, with net income of €48m ($68.8m).

Sony Ericsson LiveView is Bluetooth mini-display for Android 2.x phones [Video] [Updated]

Sony Ericsson has announced a micro-display for Android 2.x smartphones, the LiveView, with a 1.3-inch 128 x 128 color OLED screen.  Hooking up to your phone via Bluetooth (with a roughly 10m range) and intended to be left on your desk, clipped to your bag strap or even worn, watch-style, on a wristband, the Sony Ericsson LiveView can show SMS, RSS, Twitter and Facebook updates, and be used to control music playback.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8, Cedar & Yendo with Walkman get official; Android 2.1 for XPERIA in Q3

Sony Ericsson has officially announced its new XPERIA X8 smartphone, a 3-inch Android handset slotting in-between the current X10 and X10 mini models, together with the Sony Ericsson Yendo with Walkman handset, using the same XPERIA UI, and a new "Greenheart" phone, the Sony Ericsson Cedar, which the company reckons is more earth-friendly than other devices.  Of interest to existing XPERIA X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro owners is the news that Sony Ericsson plan to offer an Android 2.1 upgrade "from Q3 onwards in selected markets" and that the X10 will get additional features in Q4 too.
