Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 gets WM6.5 video demo

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X2 has been showing up more and more frequently over the past few weeks, and now there's an almost six minute video of the Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone in action.  The video - in which the XPERIA X2 is referred to by its internal codename, "Vulcan" - runs through the new Microsoft platform, as well as showing a few glimpses of what looks to be Sony Ericsson's own "Panels" UI.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 in wild: no OLED, launch from fall?

It's all getting a little confusing, what with two sets of leaked Sony Ericsson XPERIA devices making the rounds.  Yesterday's Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3, formerly known by its codename of "Rachel", is the company's upcoming Android smartphone, while today we're looking at the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2, the Windows Mobile based successor to the XPERIA X1.  More images of the device have leaked over at XDA-developers.

This, if Engadget's anonymous tipster is to be believed, is Sony Ericsson's unannounced XPERIA X2, the smartphone that will eventually replace the company's XPERIA X1.  Bearing a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, as with its predecessor, and what looks to be a curved profile, the X2 - codenamed "Vulcan" - bears the X Panel shortcut Sony Ericsson use to trigger their panel GUI.

Sony Ericsson's last event delivered the Satio, Yari and Aino, but according to the latest rumors the company might be bringing along their XPERIA X2 to another press launch later this week.  Set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday 17th, in Singapore, there's no solid connection with the XPERIA X2, but the abundance of leaked photos and information about the upcoming smartphone would certainly suggest its nearing announcement.

Sony Mobile grabs “Largest Animated Mobile Phone Mosaic” world record

Sony Mobile has just snagged the Guinness World Record for the "Largest Animated Mobile Phone Mosaic". At the Mobile World Congress back in late February, Sony grabbed 196 Sony Xperia ZL smartphones and aligned them on a 14 by 14 grid on a 6 feet 2 inch wall. All of the Sony Xperia ZL's on the mosaic linked together to display one ginormous Xperia ZL. The images would change to display various Sony icons.
