The Sony Ericsson Hallon isn't the only leaked handset out of the company; a new, compact Android smartphone has been spotted at IT168, presumed to be the successor to the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini pro. The new phone has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3-inch, 320 x 480 multitouch display; it also boosts the processor over the original X10 mini pro, to a 1GHz chip paired with an Adreno 205 GPU.

Android 2.1 for Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 series to make Halloween debut

It's taken them a long, long time, but Sony Ericsson is finally ready to push out the Android 2.1 Eclair update for the XPERIA X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro.  According to the company's official blog, the Nordic countries will get Eclair first, with the first OTA notifications going out in the evening on Sunday, October 31.  Availability will spread throughout November 2010, so not everybody will get it at the same time.

Sony Ericsson LiveView is Bluetooth mini-display for Android 2.x phones [Video] [Updated]

Sony Ericsson has announced a micro-display for Android 2.x smartphones, the LiveView, with a 1.3-inch 128 x 128 color OLED screen.  Hooking up to your phone via Bluetooth (with a roughly 10m range) and intended to be left on your desk, clipped to your bag strap or even worn, watch-style, on a wristband, the Sony Ericsson LiveView can show SMS, RSS, Twitter and Facebook updates, and be used to control music playback.

Android upgrade for Sony Ericsson XPERIA delayed yet again

Bile, vitriol and general frustration in the comments over at the official Sony Ericsson blog this morning, as the company confesses its promised Android 2.1 update for the XPERIA X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro will no longer be released sometime this month.  Instead, the much-promised upgrade will begin rolling out at the end of October, though it could take a few weeks after that before users actually see it hit their handset.

Sony Style's teaser page has hatched into the launch of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, with the Android smartphone set to hit AT&T's airwaves from Sunday, August 15th.  Priced at $129.99 with a new, two-year AT&T plan, though not currently available to order online, the smartphone runs Android 1.6 with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and an 8.1-megapixel camera with LED flash.

Sony Ericsson has officially announced its new XPERIA X8 smartphone, a 3-inch Android handset slotting in-between the current X10 and X10 mini models, together with the Sony Ericsson Yendo with Walkman handset, using the same XPERIA UI, and a new "Greenheart" phone, the Sony Ericsson Cedar, which the company reckons is more earth-friendly than other devices.  Of interest to existing XPERIA X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro owners is the news that Sony Ericsson plan to offer an Android 2.1 upgrade "from Q3 onwards in selected markets" and that the X10 will get additional features in Q4 too.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Android 2.1 update promised for Q4 2010

Sony Ericsson have confirmed that their XPERIA X10 - together with the XPERIA X10 mini and X10 mini pro - will all get an update to Android 2.1, though owners will have to wait until Q4 2010 before they see it.  The new firmware - which is being billed as an upgrade to UXP or Sony Ericsson's "User Experience Platform" - will also bring with it HD video recording, as on the Vivaz, for the X10, together with other media-centric tweaks.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 will never have multitouch

I mentioned earlier this morning that the Sony Ericsson X10 is up for pre-order on the Vodafone network in the UK. We have also posted our own review of the X10 here at SlashGear. Sony Ericsson is running a consumer research program centered on the handset, and one of the first questions they've had to field is exactly what happened to multitouch support.  The answer doesn't bode well, either; apparently the X10 lacks support both at the software and hardware level.
