The Daily Slash: April 13th 2010

, Apr 13th 2010 Discuss [0]

Tuesday is one of the days that, the moment it starts, you're wondering how fast it's going to end. After all, it's the day before Wednesday, and hopefully that means you're half way done with your work week. That's one of the reason we're so happy to bring you the Daily Slash, where we can let you wind down with the day's ending topics, so you can feel rejuvenated for your hump day challenges. As for what's on tonight's platter, which of course we focus on the Best of R3 first, is an Android-based handset that's coming direct from a wireless carrier, the latest and greatest when it comes to virtual desktops for your iPad, and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 gets reviewed. And then in the 'net, we've got new chips from Intel, an Iron Man 2 goodie that's great for all ages, a hoodie with a little bit of light, and finally one of the greatest looking eBooks we've ever seen. So let's not waste any more time, shall we? Read The Full Story

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 gets official: Hands-on Video Demo

, Nov 2nd 2009 Discuss [5]

Sony Ericsson have finally come clean on their latest smartphone, and as expected it’s an Android flagship. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 – previously known as the Rachael and the X3 – is a Snapdragon-based touchscreen candybar, with a huge display, 8.1-megapixel camera and some “special sauce” in the shape of two homegrown applications – for communication aggregation and media aggregation – with a custom UI. SlashGear caught up with Sony Ericsson in London yesterday to take a look at the new smartphone, and find out why the company reckons this is the launch not only of the Android X10 but of a new “user experience platform”.

Sony Ericsson Rachael mediascape UI gets leaked video demo

, Nov 1st 2009 Discuss [1]

If our assumptions are correct, this coming week should see Sony Ericsson officially unveil their first Android smartphone, the handset variously known as the Sony Ericsson Rachael (or Rachel), XPERIA X3 and X10 and - most recently - the Sony Ericsson Infinity.  We've already seen a video demo of what Sony Ericsson's custom UI might look like (and darned pretty it is too) but now a second demo has emerged and gadzooks it has us interested. Sony Ericsson Android XPERIA X3/X10 teaser video

, Oct 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA teaser may have been accused of being a little presumptuous, but that doesn't mean we're not excited about the Android device they're announcing on November 3rd.  Now a teaser video has emerged showing the XPERIA X3/X10 Rachael in action, and darn it if we're not excited again. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Android announce coming November 3rd?

, Oct 27th 2009 Discuss [2]

Sony Ericsson's first Android device might almost be upon us, after months of teasing and leaks.  The company has announced a product launch on November 3rd, believed to be the debut of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (aka X3 or Rachael), expected to have an 8-megapixel camera, HSPA, a huge touchscreen and Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor behind the scenes. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 to be company’s first Android smartphone?

, Oct 20th 2009 Discuss [1]

It seems we could have been calling Sony Ericsson's first Android smartphone by the wrong name, at least according to a Tweakers forum member.  That individual, who claims to have not only talked to Sony Ericsson staff about the device but to have played with a prototype, says that rather than the XPERIA X3, the handset will most likely be branded as the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.  They've also let slip some details about a possible launch window. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 Snapdragon Android phone caught in wild

, Oct 16th 2009 Discuss [2]

The Android race is hotting up, with another leaked live image of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 showing there's plenty of room in the market for a big-screen slab of megapixel-toting smartphone.  Yet another handset tipped to use Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon chipset - as found in the recently announced Acer Liquid A1 and expected to make an appearance in the rumored HTC Dragon - the XPERIA X3 will also pack an 8-megapixel autofocus camera. Up front there's a 4-inch 852 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, while under the hood lurks both dualband HSPA, WiFi b/g and GPS.  Full specifications for the handset were previewed by a prematurely posted Expansys product listing, though right now there's nothing approaching official confirmation from Sony Ericsson themselves. What's not on show from this snapshot is the distinctive UI that Sony Ericsson are tipped to have included on the smartphone, back when we knew it under the codename "Rachel".  That UI - which you can see in a leaked video demo after the cut - is expected to replace the standard Android interface perhaps even more fully than HTC Sense does on the HTC Hero.  The XPERIA X3 is expected to arrive on the market in January 2010. Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 unboxing? Looks fake to us

Do you love Sony Ericsson enough to fake an unboxing of their upcoming Android smartphone?  Now there's no official confirmation that mobile-nova's unboxing set of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 - aka "Rachel" - isn't legitimate, but having peered through our handy loupe at the pictures we're not convinced that this is the real deal. Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness Unveiled, Probably Should Have Stayed Veiled

, Sep 3rd 2009 Discuss [0]

Sony Ericsson"released the X2 yesterday, but it looks like they couldn't let things go on a good note. Well, maybe not a good note. Let's call it a rational note. After seeing this video of the XPERIA Pureness, we're not sure what to think. There's definitely some interesting aspects to it, but just one look at the phone, and you've got to tell yourself that the cost is surely going to outweigh any feature set this device could have.
