PlayStation-style gaming controls found in Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK

PlayStation-style gaming controls found in Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK

Sony Ericsson's PlayStation Phone looks another step closer to likelihood, with the discovery of what could be Sony-style gaming controls in the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK. In among "android.view.KeyEvent" there are the following input keys: A, B, C, L1, L2, Mode, R1, R2, Select, Start, ThumbL, ThumbR, X, Y, and Z, which would certainly fit in with PlayStation controller nomenclature.

Playstation Phone in Two Clear Hands On Closeup Videos

Playstation Phone in Two Clear Hands On Closeup Videos

So there's this guy, and he's on the internet. He has a Playstation phone, and he runs it in front of a camera, but he's got no games for it! You know what that means? It either means he really doesn't like games or they just don't really have any ready to even show this guy who seems to be the only person in the world to have this early version of the "Zeus Z1." What you CAN see is that it's running a version of Android which very much appears to be version 2.3 Gingerbread (it even says Gingerbread on the app version, wowie), and there IS definitely a Playstation icon.

PlayStation Phone leak prompts Sony denial and general confusion

PlayStation Phone leak prompts Sony denial and general confusion

It should come as little surprise, but the supposedly leaked Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone photos from earlier are already prompting controversy.  NowGamer pestered Sony for an official comment, and were apparently initially told the leak was "definitely fake"; the company then backtracked, asked that the quote be taken down, and returned to the usual party line of "We do not comment on rumour and speculation."

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 gets official: Hands-on Video Demo

Sony Ericsson have finally come clean on their latest smartphone, and as expected it's an Android flagship. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 - previously known as the Rachael and the X3 - is a Snapdragon-based touchscreen candybar, with a huge display, 8.1-megapixel camera and some "special sauce" in the shape of two homegrown applications - for communication aggregation and media aggregation - with a custom UI. SlashGear caught up with Sony Ericsson in London yesterday to take a look at the new smartphone, and find out why the company reckons this is the launch not only of the Android X10 but of a new "user experience platform".
