Sling Media's Slingbox PRO-HD for the European market has been a long time coming, two years in fact, though the streaming media market has largely left its niche alone in the meantime.  As with the US model, the PRO-HD promises to take your SD and HD video sources - cable TV box, DVR, DVD player or even CCTV hardware - and squirt it over the internet; however, this new version also includes a Freeview tuner to add free-to-air digital TV to that list.  Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

It's been two years since Sling Media launched the Slingbox PRO-HD on the North American market, and now they're ready to release their European-centric version.  Out goes the ATSC TV and in comes a Freeview TV tuner, meaning owners can now stream free-to-air digital TV as well as the various SD and HD video inputs.  After the cut, more on the new PRO-HD, Sling's push for in-browser viewing, and we talk to the company's European VP about the future for place-shifting.

SlingCatcher unboxed: no SlingBox PRO-HD 1080i until update

The SlingCatcher is a slight tweak in direction for Sling Media; unlike their SlingBox media streamers, whose purpose is to take what TV content you receive (whether cable, satellite or over-the-air) and funnel it out to you while you travel, the SlingCatcher gobbles up streamed content (from a SlingBox or from any number of online sources) and puts it on your TV.  It was announced back at CES 2007, but pre-orders only started back in September.  Now the first devices are reaching buyers for some long-awaited unboxing.

Slingbox Pro HD to stream 1080i video come August

Poor Gizmodo - they managed to get their hands on one of Slingbox's new Pro HD media shifters, but didn't get to actually plug it in and watch the high-def 1080i streamed video in action.  Still, they've got some nice photos of the familiar arch shape, and the bristling input/output panel at the rear, and were able to tell us that the black casing looks better than earlier models.

SlingPlayer for Logitech Revue Google TV STB officially released

Sling has released SlingPlayer for the Logitech Revue, allowing all owners of the Google TV set-top box to access its media streaming app and placeshift content locally or remotely. Announced back in July - and opened up for a closed beta at the same time - the app requires a Slingbox SOLO or Slingbox PRO-HD as well as a minimum of a 600 Kbps connection if you're content with standard definition video.
