SlingPlayer for Logitech Revue Google TV STB officially released

Sling has released SlingPlayer for the Logitech Revue, allowing all owners of the Google TV set-top box to access its media streaming app and placeshift content locally or remotely. Announced back in July - and opened up for a closed beta at the same time - the app requires a Slingbox SOLO or Slingbox PRO-HD as well as a minimum of a 600 Kbps connection if you're content with standard definition video. Sling has launched a new streaming app, SlingPlayer for Boxee Box, pulling in content place-shifted from your Slingbox directly to the compact STB. As with the existing SlingPlayer apps for mobile devices and tablets, along with the SlingPlayer for Facebook app released last week, the new option allows for remote control of an SD or HD video source - including setting and playing back DVR recordings - as well as streaming live TV. Sling Media has announced that the SlingPlayer app for Android 3.0 tablets is now available for download. If you have an Android tablet running version 3.0 of Android, you can already use the app for Android mobile devices for free on the tablet in compatibility mode. Time Warner Cable offering free Slingbox Pro-HD to top-tier customers

Time Warner Cable is planning to offer free SlingBox Pro-HD set-top boxes to its customers starting in September. Customers that sign up for Time Warner Cable's $99 per month Wide Internet service will get a $300 rebate for the total cost of the device. Sling has thrown open its beta for SlingPlayer for Google TV, allowing those with one of Google's STBs - like the Logitech Revue - to stream content from their Slingbox Solo or Slingbox PRO-HD. Dubbed "SlingPlayer for Connected Devices" the new system bypasses a software upgrade or app, and instead works as a Flash-based sit specifically coded for the Google TV platform.
