When the tablets were axed there was still a 7-inch version coming that Sharp hoped would be able to generate more interest than those other two tablets did. Samsung seems intent on offering a tablet in just about every size that consumers might want. It has the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab, a smaller 7-inch version and the 8.9-inch Tab crossed the FCC not long ago. We know that many of the tablets that are coming to market in the next few months will be packing LTE technology inside since LTE networks will be rolled out by several carriers. The people at Sharp have announced a brand new 7-inch Android tablet that will be launched in Japan complete with an NFC interface for commercial interactions. This Android tablet will only support Japanese FeliCa cards at the start, but we can expect additional card support in the near future. It's been about a month now since we saw the Sharp Galapagos 7-inch tablet clear the FCC. There are probably some geeks out there wondering when the tablet will hit stores. Sharp has offered a launch date on the tablet for Japan and that date may be when we will see it in the US and other countries as well. Details of two compact Android tablets have turned up at the FCC, with both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Sharp 7-inch "EB-W71LJ-H" Galapagos slate crossing through testing.
