We caught up with Samsung's flagship Omnia HD handset at Mobile World Congress this week, and there's certainly a lot to be said for an AMOLED touchscreen rocking in at 3.7-inches and an 8.1-megapixel camera.  In the hand, the Omnia HD almost feels like a small MID; the display is responsive and incredibly bright, and the sliding pane-based GUI animates smoothly.  TouchWiz is an acquired taste, but at least there's plenty of room for the new internet-connected widgets.

Samsung Omnia HD gets official at MWC 2009

Samsung announced the latest iteration in the Omnia range today, the Samsung Omnia HD I8910, with a switch from Windows Mobile 6.1 to Symbian S60.  The Omnia HD has a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, capable of 16m colors, together with an 8.1-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p high-definition footage.

Samsung roadmap leak tips 720p I9250 Android ICS phone, more

Details of upcoming smartphones and tablets purportedly from a leaked Samsung roadmap have emerged, with retailer Mobili linija spilling the beans on not only a 7-inch Galaxy Tab replacement but a pair of supersized Android handsets one of which runs Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung's 7-inch slate, the P6200, is tipped to run Android 3.x Honeycomb on a 1024 x 600 display, with HSPA+ and twin cameras, a 3-megapixel shooter on the back and 2-megapixels up front. It will also apparently be available as the P6210, a WiFi-only version.

Orange HD Voice promises crystal-clear audio (if you have the right phone)

Orange UK has officially launched High Definition Voice, a new voice technology that claims to dramatically reduce background noise and increase audio quality.  Available only on select handsets - initially updated versions of the Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia E5 and Samsung Omnia Pro - the carrier is hoping that more manufacturers jump on board with their own compatible hardware.
