iPhone 5 supply purchases tipped for 2012

, May 23rd 2012 Discuss [0]

This week we're seeing no lack of iPhone 5 rumors, with this latest tidbit being a selection of supply reports from China pointing toward shakeups in the global supply economy as a result of Apple's next big titan. This next-level smartphone is set to have components that are not necessarily working with the same companies Apple has been working with before, with the most recent supply shock being Apple's leaked purchase of flash memory products with Elpida, a competitor with the then $10 million USD poorer Samsung, for over half of their total parts in-house. Samsung releases Galaxy Note ICS source code

, May 23rd 2012 Discuss [0]

The Galaxy Note is a contentious device among tech reviewers, but it seems to have found a happy audience across the world despite its size. Samsung began rolling out an Ice Cream Sandwich update across Europe and Asia not too long ago, and now the South Korean company has released the ICS source code for the device. That means enterprising hackers and developers will be able to create custom ROMs and kernels for the phablet. Read The Full Story

, May 21st 2012 Discuss [0]

Samsung Galaxy S IIIs are already out there in the wild even though the phone doesn’t official hit retail channels until May 29th. The exclusive Flipboard APK was ripped from the phone pretty quickly, and over the weekend Samsung’s personal voice assistant, S-Voice, was also uploaded for anyone with an Android phone running Ice Cream Sandwich to enjoy. Samsung doesn’t seem to be amused by such shenanigans, and has blocked users from accessing the feature. Read The Full Story

Samsung S Voice Siri clone gets leaked for Android 4.0

, May 20th 2012 Discuss [0]

It's no secret that when it comes to smartphones, Samsung sees only one company as its competitor - Apple. It believes, rightly so, that it has the most popular presence on Android so rather than fight against other Android manufacturers it has its eyes set solely on the iPhone. So it is really no surprise that the company has developed its own version of Siri. Will it be able to measure up? Read The Full Story

Galaxy S III rooted before release

, May 18th 2012 Discuss [0]

It's basically a tradition at this point with giant phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S III that they get hacked and rooted before they're released into the wild with final software - and it's no different today. Developer and hacker Chainfire has posted information on how he and his colleagues have achieved root on the Galaxy S III by working through an insecure kernel code leaked by an intrepid "insider" who he's saying will remain nameless. Inside the code for the Galaxy S III were found some rather odd bits that only developers would find truly interesting with a few surprises that everyone will love as well. Read The Full Story

Verizon Galaxy S III S4 dualcore beats Exynos in GPU testing

, May 14th 2012 Discuss [0]

The Galaxy S III tidbits keep on coming, and after promising battery indications comes further evidence that Verizon's variant of the smartphone will pack a dualcore Snapdragon S4 rather than Samsung's own quadcore chip. Premature NenaMark2 benchmarks suggest Verzion's SCH-I535 Galaxy S III will indeed swap the Exynos for a 1.5GHz S4, presumably the same chipset as in the LTE-toting One X, as Samsung moves to accommodate the 4G technology.
