Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Review

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Review

AT&T and Samsung have brought forth a tablet that adds to their set of sleek Android-based slates, this one the first to work with the carrier's 4G LTE network. Inside you'll find the rather powerful 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM8660 dual-core processor, Samsung's custom user interface TouchWiz UX made specifically for tablets, and either 16 or 32GB or internal storage. You can take 3 megapixel photos and 720p videos with the back-facing camera, slightly less impressive media with the front-facing 2 megapixel camera. As this tablet is thin, so is it speedy, and as there are now more than four different models of tablet running Android from Samsung on the market today, surely they've gotten the formula correct enough to warrant such an array by now - wouldn't you say?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 AT&T LTE Hands-on and Unboxing

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 AT&T LTE Hands-on and Unboxing

This week we get our first glimpse of what it means to hold the next addition to the Galaxy Tab family in our hands, the slightly larger than mid-sized Galaxy Tab 8.9 for AT&T's LTE network. What we'll be doing in the post you're looking at here is giving it a relatively brief hands-on look as well as a few photos of how it looks in and out of the box. What you'll find is that this certainly has little in the way of differences from the rest of the Galaxy Tab line (starting with the 10.1, that is), save for its size which may indeed be the perfect one if you're a Goldilocks sort of person. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 not nearly as obtuse as the original Galaxy Tab, it's not as large as the 10.1, and it's got just a slight bit more screen space than the 7.7. Samsung appears to be covering all the bases: is this home plate?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Android tablet will come in LTE version

Samsung seems intent on offering a tablet in just about every size that consumers might want. We know that many of the tablets that are coming to market in the next few months will be packing LTE technology inside since LTE networks will be rolled out by several carriers. Word has surfaced that a LTE version of the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab will be coming.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 surfaces in Russia with Keyboard Dock [Video]

Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9 still isn't expected to hit retail until later in the year, but that hasn't stopped the 8.9-inch slate from popping up around the world for a sneaky series of appearances. Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 official

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 official

As we expected, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Tab 8.9, its 8.9-inch Android 3.0 Honeycomb slate that slots in-between the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab and the larger Galaxy Tab 10.1 which also makes its US debut at CTIA 2011 this week. Billed as the "world's thinnest mobile tablets" at 8.6mm thick - the iPad 2 is 8.8mm thick, for comparison - the Galaxy Tab 8.9 tips the scales at 470g but still has a 1280 x 800 touchscreen, 1GHz dual-core processor and twin cameras. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been back into the engineering labs since we saw it in Barcelona last month, shedding some bulk to better compete with the iPad 2.
