Samsung quietly unveils Galaxy Tab A in Russia

Samsung quietly unveils Galaxy Tab A in Russia

Samsung has announced a new line of tablets in Russia, without much fuss or fanfare and not even an official PR statement. It's almost as if it were ashamed to let it be known that it has a new family of Android tablets, and maybe it's for good reason. Like their Galaxy A smartphone namesakes, these two Galaxy Tab A tablets are pretty much mid-range mobile devices seemingly designed for a specific use case in mind. But, unlike those smartphones, these tablets are still completely plastic.

"Samsung Electronics aims to consolidate its leadership in the premium market," said Shin Jong Kyun, "and plans to newly change the smartphone line-up to strengthen competitiveness."

Samsung Galaxy S6 topples Galaxy Note 4 as OLED king

With Samsung's latest flagship fully unveiled and, if rumors are true, out in the market next month, it's time to compare and contrast its features with current and past smartphones. Naturally, DisplayMate is pouncing on the opportunity to test out the Galaxy S6's, as well as the Galaxy S6 edge's, screens to rank it against Samsung's own Galaxy Note 4 and, of course, the iPhone 6. Perhaps it isn't surprising that DisplayMate would conclude that the Galaxy S6 so far has the best OLED display in the market, but it isn't just because of the pixels.

Samsung’s not giving up on VR: Gear VR GS6 hands-on

I honestly didn't think I'd have to mess up my charming, hobo-like mess of hair so often at MWC 2015, but Samsung wasn't going to let me get away without trying the new Gear VR for the Galaxy S6. An updated version of last year's Gear VR for the Galaxy Note, the new model keeps the same basic principle - your smartphone screen, when docked up-front, becomes a stereoscopic display - but updates it to suit the new Galaxy S6 and S6 edge Samsung announced on Sunday. Thing is, having already been wowed by the HTC Vive, can Samsung's altogether more straightforward headset compete?

Galaxy S6 benchmarked, outpaces every other smartphone

Ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge reveal, a lot of discussion was aimed at Samsung’s choice of SoC for their new flagship. Samsung was developing their new Exynos SoC, using an impressive new 14nm manufacturing process. Still, they weren’t offering a Snapdragon alternative, so it seemed like a wholesale snubbing. If the latest benchmark results from Geekbench can be believed, we might know why.
