Samsung Galaxy J teaser prompts Galaxy S5 rumors

Samsung Galaxy J teaser prompts Galaxy S5 rumors

A new Samsung teaser has set the smartphone cat among the pigeons, triggering speculation of an early unveil of the Galaxy S5 though a Taiwanese device now seems more likely. Samsung Taiwan showed a Galaxy Gear smartwatch displaying "13:00, Mon, Dec 9" in a mysterious teaser video it posted yesterday. A Monday reveal would have put the Galaxy S5 well over two months ahead of the currently estimated late-February range -- on or about the 2014 installment of Mobile World Congress taking place Feb. 24th-27, 2014. Instead, this is believed to be the Samsung Galaxy J; more details after the cut.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus Review

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus Review

In the Samsung ATIV Book series, the company comes to a point in their history with notebooks that they're ready to go to battle with the highest-quality units in the industry. In the ATIV Book 9 Plus with 13.3-inch LED QHD+ (3200 x 1800 pixel) touchscreen display and Intel Core processor under the hood, there's scarcely a Windows 8 laptop on the market that we can recommend against it. Not one constructed of pure aluminum, at least.

Nokia Lumia 1520 Review

Nokia Lumia 1520 Review

You're to blame for the vast Nokia Lumia 1520. "Make a phablet" we kept asking Nokia, "give us a big Windows Phone to compete with the Galaxy Note." That Nokia - and Microsoft - went off to the drawing board and returned with a hand-dominating 6-inch monster is a juicy sort of irony, then: this is a Lumia that not only comes in larger than just about every other smartphone on the market, it could be considered a small tablet in its own right. Problem is, there's a difference between a big phone and a great one, so has Nokia done more than enlarge Lumia? Read on for our full review.

Galaxy Gear “world’s most popular smartwatch” says Samsung

Galaxy Gear “world’s most popular smartwatch” says Samsung

This week Samsung appears to have had its hand forced as rumor surfaced of sore sales of their Galaxy Gear smartwatch, making them reveal their "true" numbers to the world. It was this morning when Samsung spoke with Reuters on the subject, saying specifically that the watch had become "the world's most popular smartwatch with sales reaching 800,000" in the two month period since the device was first put on the market. This would indeed put the device well ahead of the competition, but only if those numbers actually reflected the final sales of the machine to consumers.

Samsung device bans reconsidered in Apple patent case

Samsung device bans reconsidered in Apple patent case

A ruling has been passed down today by an appeals court which says U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh must spend more time considering evidence offered by Apple in arguments that certain Samsung devices should be banned from sale. In this ruling, the appeals court currently working on the case agreed unanimously that Koh "made errors" in her denial of Apple's request for a court injunction against 26 Samsung products.

Nokia Lumia 1520 first-impressions – Windows Phone goes big

Nokia Lumia 1520 first-impressions – Windows Phone goes big

You asked for a big Windows Phone, and Nokia is delivering just that with the Lumia 1520. Headed to AT&T imminently, the 6-inch phablet not only bears the biggest screen on a recent Nokia, but the fastest processor ever inside a Windows Phone, the highest display resolution, and what's arguably the most rational compromise of camera quality in the company's well-esteemed PureView system. With review units only released late last week, we're still getting to grips with the Lumia 1520's charms, but there's still time for some first-impressions of how this new flagship measures up.
