This afternoon we've seen a specifications sheet for the device that's otherwise code-named Galaxy Nexus Superior, a half-step up likely being released along the lines of the iPhone 4S. While the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was originally released with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in tow, it was essentially re-released at Google I/O 2012 with the next generation Google mobile OS Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. With hardware on the whole evolving past the point where the Galaxy Nexus would be considered top of the line, Samsung and Google may very well be creating this Galaxy Nexus Superior to stay up to date.

The latest entry in what is the closest to being "the official" Android product line will be available on a new carrier less than a month from now. That is to say, Samsung's Galaxy Nexus phone, which Google had an active hand in developing, will be losing its Verizon exclusivity and moving to the Sprint network on April 15, complete with the ability to connect to the new carrier's 4G LTE infrastructure.

A leaked marketing sheet for Samsung turned up yesterday and that marketing sheet said that the Galaxy Nexus launch date would be pushed a bit to November 17. Samsung has come back today and gone official with the confirmation that the November 17 date is correct. November 17 is a Thursday, so if you want one of these smartphones you better be keeping an eye out. I suspect there will be shortages.

For those of you who are unaware of the world of Android, this Galaxy Nexus device is Google's next hero device, the one to run their next-level mobile operating system Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Today the GALAXY Nexus has been revealed in Hong Kong to the world as the first device on earth to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This device has a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display with no less than 720p resolution, and it has a 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP processor from Texas Instruments. The GALAXY Nexus is the first running what Google calls an entirely new look and feel to Android in Ice Cream Sandwich, along with multi-tasking, NFC support, a new notification system, and what they're calling "Software Navigation Buttons", this meaning that the physical Android home row of menu buttons are no more, everything is now right there inside the display.
