It's time for Exynos 5 - or at least that's what the benchmark results we're seeing today are saying - ready and willing to roll out on the Samsung Galaxy S IV this Spring. While it may be too much to hope for to see the Samsung Galaxy S IV at Mobile World Congress 2013 next month, we certainly can expect this device (Exynos 5 or no) to be appearing before the end of the Summer. Benchmark results here show the device to be working at 1.8Ghz clock speed per core with Android 4.2.1 right out the box.

Samsung quadcore GSIII tipped: Exynos 5 detailed, Qualcomm ousted

Samsung intends to scythe Qualcomm chips from its product range, cutting its dependency on its rival and shifting to "using Samsung solutions for Samsung products." Although an official confirmation of the strategy change hasn't been made, senior execs have reportedly been spilling details in Korea. "Samsung is paying huge amounts to Qualcomm in return for using its single-chip solutions in strategic digital devices, however, Qualcomm is gradually losing its edge" a supposedly high-level Samsung exec told the Korea Times. Meanwhile, details purportedly of the new Samsung Exynos 5 chipset have also emerged, successor to the quadcore Exynos tipped to be inside the upcoming Galaxy S III.

Samsung teases Exynos quad-core mobile chips ahead of MWC

Among several new mobile chips we'll be seeing at Mobile World Congress next week, will be Samsung's new Exynos chips. The company teased the first samples at the ISSCC event this week and is expected to showcase two of these next-gen processors at MWC. Samsung 2GHz phone “by next year” as Exynos takes on Tegra 2

Samsung is looking to challenge Qualcomm's Snapdragon and NVIDIA's Tegra 2 with a significant processor push that will take chipset speeds to 2GHz and broaden availability across manufacturers. According to a Samsung exec quoted in the Maeli Business Newspaper, the company intends "to release a 2GHz dual core CPU-equipped smartphone by next year," going on to suggest that the handset "will have the data processing capacities of a regular PC."

Is Samsung Using Tegra 2 or Exynos for New Galaxy S II?

Early on at the 2011 Mobile World Congress, Samsung and NVIDIA made an announcement that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be made with NVIDIA's Tegra 2 SoC (I9103). They also announced that they would be working on a new superphone based on Tegra 2. But at Samsung's press conference, we saw the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy S II, using Samsung's Exynos SoC (GT-I9100). There was no mention of NVIDIA or Tegra 2. Why would Samsung use Tegra 2 when it already has a Exynos-based smartphone?
