Rod Whitby of webOS Internals Details Roadmap for Preware 2.0

Today WebOS Internals' Rod Whitby sent a few words out in a speech at webOS Developer Day in NYC about webOS Homebrew development. All the way back to a million years ago, 2009, when the Palm Pre was released, to now, and looking ahead. Preware 2.0 Plans include the following: Instant On. Need I say more? Everyone loves that. Currently loading Preware requires a scan and parse of all needed files - in the future, loading packages from db8 will make the whole process more dynamic and quick. Verizon roadmap tips Motorola DROID Pro, Samsung & Moto tablets and LTE MiFi

Details of Verizon's roadmap covering not only the rest of 2010 but partial details of 2011 and even 2012 have leaked, tipping a 1.3GHz Motorola Android phone, various tablets and LTE handsets and MiFi mobile hotspots.  However, the information - provided to BGR by a source at Verizon Wireless - makes no mention of a CDMA iPhone 4.  Instead, the de-facto flagship is the Motorola DROID Pro, a 4-inch Android smartphone with 1.3GHz processor and global wireless, apparently due to arrive in November this year.

Verizon’s 4G Roadmap Leaks, Seems to be Right on Schedule

Verizon’s 4G Roadmap Leaks, Seems to be Right on Schedule

Right now, Sprint's got 4G down. Their WiMAX-backed next-generation wireless technology is popping up in cities all over the country, and they've got their first 4G-enabled device out there, in the hands of customers. But, that's obviously not stopping the largest wireless carrier in this neck of the woods from moving right along with their own next-gen connection options. Verizon, though, will be using Long Term Evolution, and not WiMAX, and according to a newly leaked document detailing the future of the roll-out, it looks like Verizon is right on schedule and moving along quite nicely.

It's July 1st 2010, the first day of Q3 2010, and that means Palm has officially slotted into the warm crevices of mother HP.  Public announcements of what exactly we can expect from the combination vary from the mundane (webOS-based printers, anyone?) to the mysterious (HP's various tablet strategies and the company's refusal to clarify on any of them), but according to the Palm blog this morning they're aiming for "an amazing roadmap of new tools for your mobile and web-connected future."
