Motorola ATRIX 4G review

, Feb 20th 2011 Discuss [70]

You have to be a pretty special device to win Best Device of CES, and this year Motorola’s ATRIX 4G took away the coveted crown. It’s not hard to see why, either: the 4-inch Android smartphone not only pairs NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 processor with a beautiful qHD display, but offers some compelling accessories such as a laptop-style docking station that wants to replace your MacBook Air. Plenty of promise, then, but does the ATRIX 4G deliver the speed, data and flexibility AT&T promise? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

RIM BlackPad tablet a WiFi/Bluetooth “companion” device; could drop this year

, May 13th 2010 Discuss [1]

The BlackBerry tablet rumors continue, and it's looking more like a case of "when" RIM will out their touchscreen marvel rather than "if".  BGR's usual sources have come through with some information that seemingly corroborates what we heard last week; namely, that the tablet - codenamed BlackPad, we've heard before - will be a companion device rather than standalone product, which basically means no integrated 3G, only Bluetooth and WiFi. , Feb 12th 2010 Discuss [2]

It's been over a year since we heard talk of Celio's REDFLY Smartphone Dock, the compact box that would allow you to plug your phone into full-sized desktop peripherals, but it seems the company have been beavering away in the meantime.  Two videos have been quietly uploaded, showing off the latest REDFLY Smartphone Dock - codenamed Moab - in action, taking a BlackBerry Tour 9630 and making it usable with a VGA display and keyboard. Celio are looking to broaden support for their REDFLY smartphone companion device, tipping compatibility with RIM's handsets and potentially Google's smartphone platform.  The company is apparently looking into developing BlackBerry support for the REDFLY devices by the end of 2009, with Android likely to be the next candidate after that. Celio REDFLY C8N reviews: still niche, but better

, Nov 19th 2008 Discuss [0]

Celio's REDFLY smartphone companion device seems destined to polarize opinion.  The first reviews of the newly announced C8N are popping up, and while many are still having trouble seeing how this brainless (in the nicest possible way) netbook-style terminal brings anything desirable to the table, those who actually spend some time using it do seem to warm to the concept.  Read The Full Story

Celio REDFLY C7 & C8N smartphone companions: 2nd time lucky?

, Nov 18th 2008 Discuss [0]

It probably wouldn't be unfair to say that Celio's REDFLY hasn't exactly been the outlandish sales success the company was hoping for.  Intended as a companion device for your Windows Mobile smartphone, it has the form factor of a netbook but none of the independence: without the cellphone, the REDFLY does nothing.  Rather than roll over and quietly expire, however, Celio are back with two new products, the REDFLY C7 and C8N.  Read The Full Story

OLO Computer iPhone-integrated netbook concept looks unlikely

, Oct 13th 2008 Discuss [0]

One of the regular concepts we see over at iPhoneBuzz is Apple slotting the iPhone 3G into the palm-rest of a MacBook and making it serve double-duty as connectivity and multitouch trackpad.  When it's attributed to Apple it's pretty laughable; when a third-party claims to be doing it, as is the case with OLO Computer, you fall off the scale into hilariously unlikely. REDFLY Mobile Companion – like Palm Foleo for your Windows Mobile devices

It only works with Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6, but it works almost exactly how the Palm Foleo was supposed to. The only sad thing is that the Foleo worked with both WinMo and Palm’s mobile OS, why couldn’t they pull that off with this notebook? Read The Full Story

REDFLY by Celio plans to pick up where Foleo never started

Hmm, Palm Foleo, nope doesn’t ring a bell. I’m wondering, why would anyone want to put out their version of a product that didn’t fare so well to begin with? Maybe they like a challenge? Read The Full Story
