Tim Cook trashes convergence as “not pleasing to the user”

Apple CEO Tim Cook has dismissed the prospect of a laptop/tablet hybrid product, saving a little snark for touchscreen ultrabooks as pushed by Microsoft and Intel. Although there's plenty of room for convergence for its own sake, Cook argued, that doesn't necessarily mean you end up with a worthwhile product. Shipments of the largest notebook, currently priced from $2,499, have slumped, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cites in support of his claims, "in order to maintain a lean product line strategy." Intel reports flat $12.9 billion revenue in Q1 2012

Intel reported its Q1 2012 earnings today, revealing a 13 percent drop in profit due to flat sales and higher operating expenses. The chip giant earned $2.7 billion or 53 cents per share on a revenue of $12.9 billion. Despite the dip in revenue across all of Intel's business divisions, the results did manage to beat Wall Street estimates, which expected earnings of 50 cents per share on a revenue of $12.84 billion. NVIDIA Tegra 4 spec leak tips quadcore A15 in 2013

NVIDIA's next-gen Tegra 4 chipset has purportedly been detailed ahead of its expected 2013 release, using the same 4-PLUS-1 configuration as the Tegra 3 but with newer ARM A15 cores. The new chipset will run at between 1.2GHz and 2.0GHz, the slide shared by VR-Zone indicates, depending on whether the device it's inside is targeted at the mainstream or flagship markets, and presumably what form-factor - tablet, phone or something else - is adopted.
