PS4 to top Xbox One in sales through 2018, analysts predict

PS4 to top Xbox One in sales through 2018, analysts predict

It's no secret that thus far the PlayStation 4 is winning the current game console war against the Xbox One. The muddled announcements of the latest Xbox with restrictive features and the previous requirement of the always listening camera meant from launch the system was playing catch-up to Sony's PS4. However, some analysts are predicting Microsoft's system to continue to sell fewer numbers all the way into 2018, and by a margin of over 20 million units.

Turned 18? Now you can turn your PSN sub account into a master

Turned 18? Now you can turn your PSN sub account into a master

Even gamers grow older. There comes a time when a young gamer reaches a certain legal number of years where he or she can get access to content previously unavailable to them, legally or otherwise. When that coming of age does arrive, Sony will now let them easily gradate from a PSN Sub Account to a Master Account as easily as flicking a switch. Sony says this is a much requested feature and, considering that a lot of gamers probably turn 18 every year, it's somewhat puzzling it took them this long to implement it.

Alleged PS4 Slim surfaces in leaked photos

Alleged PS4 Slim surfaces in leaked photos

The PlayStation 3 had its slim counterpart, actually two of them, so it seems only natural that Sony's hottest selling PS4 would also get its due. While the rumor mill has been relatively silent on that front, a batch of new photos have recently cropped up that seems to hint that such a console might indeed be coming. But considering how young the PlayStation 4 is in the market, some are calling out these leaks and think that it is too early for Sony to make such a move.

Square Enix teases English dubbed Final Fantasy XV clip

English speaking fans of Final Fantasy, consider yourselves teased. Square Enix has just released, or in this case, re-released the trailer for Final Fantasy XV, but this time without the subtitles. Instead, what fans and viewers will get are the first ever sighting, or rather hearing, of English voices for the upcoming installment of the beloved Japanese RPG franchise. Some more hardcore JRPG fans, however, might prefer the game in its original Japanese voices, given how dubs are sometimes a case of hit or miss.

Xbox One’s November sales outpace PS4 for the first time

Xbox One’s November sales outpace PS4 for the first time

It seems Chrstimas came a month early for Microsoft. We saw it last week and now another independent research confirms it. Microsoft's Xbox One has indeed, for the first time, outsold the PlayStation 4 in the US, though only considering the month of November. The recent holiday shopping spree was a big break for Microsoft's console, beleaguered by its rivalry with Sony's counterpart. That victory was not without its price, however, as the repeated price cuts implemented over the past months are believed to have been Microsoft's ace.

Sony’s PlayStation Experience: here’s what you missed

Sony just finished its standalone PlayStation Experience media event in Las Vegas this weekend, and it unloaded a ton of teasers on gamers. Not all of them good, unfortunately. As to what those games are, it's a wide collection of sequels to iconic titles like Street Fighter and Yakuza, as well as a bunch of new inventions from indie developers.

PS4 20th Anniversary Edition preorders begin, sell out in minutes

It was less than a week ago that Sony announced its special edition 20th Anniversary-themed PlayStation 4 console, featuring a gray paint job to match the original PlayStation system and limited to only 12,300 units worldwide. All Sony said was that preorders would start on December 6th in the U.S., but they didn't detail how or where reservations could be made. Well, the 6th has passed, and if you weren't one of very luck to place an order, you've probably missed your chance.

Why Xbox One could win the holiday gaming war

Why Xbox One could win the holiday gaming war

As a longtime gamer, I’ve seen the ups and downs that befall even the greatest of video game companies. I’ve watched companies like SEGA and Nintendo rise and fall, I’ve watched Sony take a few missteps, and I’ve watched Microsoft become an important player in today’s marketplace. At the risk of dating myself, I even remember the good ol’ days of Atari rising and falling and an odd device named the 3DO failing to captivate gamers (well, besides me, who still finds time to play it from time to time).
