Sony pulled PlayStation Network over rampant piracy?

A new explanation for the ongoing Sony PlayStation Network downtime has been suggested, with claims that Sony has taken the service offline so as to close a loophole that had been responsible for "extreme piracy of PSN content." PSX-Scene's "Chesh" took to Reddit to outline how a new PlayStation 3 custom firmware called Rebug was used by hackers to gain access to the PSN's developer networks. From there, it was possible to input fake credit card information and buy content without ever paying for it.

Sony touchscreen VAIOs planned for Windows 7; PlayStation Network integration

Sony are planning VAIO computers with touch capabilities once Windows 7 launches, potentially taking advantage of casual gaming, streaming and downloadable movies and TV content from the PlayStation Network.  Speaking in an interview with LaptopMag, Sony's senior VP of the Information Technology Products Division, Mike Abary confirmed that the company find the touch functionality in Windows 7 "compelling" and that they would be looking to adopt some of those technologies in their upcoming PC ranges.

Playstation Network Card availability to increase again

Continuing the rollout begun back in August, from October Sony's pre-paid Playstation Network cards will be available in Walmart, Best Buy and select Sam’s Club outlets across the US.  Barnes & Noble will begin selling the cards in November.  Available in $20 and $50 denominations, the PSN Cards can be used to buy items such as games, movies, TV shows and other downloads for the PSP and PS3.
