Parrot have teamed up with designer Philippe Starck to create a new set of wireless speakers. Called Zikmu, the speakers incorporate an iPod/iPhone dock together with WiFi and Bluetooth; the latter is used both to stream audio from mobile devices such as cellphones using A2DP, and to connect the two speaker columns themselves together.
That bloody Philippe Starck, he really needs to stop designing lovely products that so tease my wallet. I actually already have a very similar digital Fossil watch that he created, but this new Veiled design really tickles my temptation glands. Available now in both mens' and womens' versions (the latter being narrower), the analogue face is all-but-obscured by the electroplated crystal glass that looks to be a continuation of the stainless-steel bracelet.
Bill Gates has described his final meeting with Steve Jobs, in an emotional interview with 60 Minutes' Charlie Rose in which he recalled his rival and friend's "forward looking" attitude. "He and I, in a sense, grew up together" Gates said of his relationship with Jobs, a complex friendship that saw each man engage and respect with each other on a personal level, while at the same time lead companies that at many points in their history were fiercely competitive and even antagonistic.
Steve Jobs' yacht, the Starck-designed Venus, hasn't had an easy time over the holidays, impounded in Amsterdam over unpaid bills, but that gave harbor hunters a chance to snap some new video of the crisp-edged craft. Michiel Frackers took a post-Christmas walk to the former container terminal where Venus was being held, and rather fittingly used an iPhone 5 to film the distinctive yacht as it was being tended to by crew.
We can now all move on with our lives amid the freeing of the Steve Jobs-commissioned superyacht from impound as the estate and designer Philippe Starck have reached a monetary agreement. This agreement comes after the Starck group Ubik set the ship in impound because of unpaid fees from the Steve Jobs estate. The big news today has the ship set free. It's been a devastating five days that the ship has been stopped from glorious water freedom.
Back in April we mentioned that word surfaced that designer Philippe Starck was working on a project for Apple. The fact that the famous designer was working on a project by Apple was quickly denied by Starck himself who admitted that he was working on a project involving Steve Jobs' private yacht. The yacht has been under construction by a Dutch company known for custom yachts called Feadship.
Parrot has confirmed pricing and availability for its advanced ZIK touch-activated Bluetooth headphones, with the app-supported pair shipping in the US from July 27. The Philippe Starck designed cans feature touch-sensitive surfaces on the outside of the earpiece, allowing wearers to adjust volume and skip through tracks simply by swiping a fingertip against them. However, style and performance like that doesn't come cheap.

Famed designer Dieter Rams has described how, rather than being offended by the oft-commented similarity in themes between Apple's hardware design and his own work, he takes it as a compliment that Jonathan Ives and the rest of the Apple team follow the same core tenets as he did. Speaking to Co.Design, Rams - whose uncomplicated and exceedingly elegant designs still managed to look fresh and modern, despite dating back several decades in some cases - recalled being approached while at a party by an indignant Philippe Starck claiming "Apple is copying you!"
