ASUS tease color combinations for tablets at MWC 2012

ASUS tease color combinations for tablets at MWC 2012

There's another brand new teaser video in town this week, coming from ASUS with three colors in mind: Red, White, and Blue, painted right over the tablet landscape. Here's what we're figuring, given the information we have so far: this teaser is for the PadFone. Thus far we've gotten one teaser called "Divided We Stand" complete with some Russian nesting dolls, then we got a "Twice the Pixels, Twice the Fun" teaser which showed how if you put a bunch of rubber balls in a bin, they look better if there's more of them, now we get this. This teaser has three colors on a pallet, a painter smooshing one of them and stamping out a masterpiece on canvas.

ASUS Transformer 2 with double pixel resolution teased for MWC

ASUS Transformer 2 with double pixel resolution teased for MWC

A video has just been released this week by ASUS for the Mobile World Congress 2012 release of a brand new tablet with "twice the detail, twice the fun." We must assume, of course, that this is not the same tablet we saw at CES 2012 in the Transformer Prime 700 series, instead we're banking on the idea that it's an upgrade for the original Transformer - this being less expensive and slightly less powerful than the Prime for more reasons than one. This would play into ASUS' plan for a two-tiered system of tablets where one is a premium model and the other is for the slightly more average consumer.

Fujitsu LIFEBOOK2013 concept docks tablet, phone & camera in laptop

Fujitsu LIFEBOOK2013 concept docks tablet, phone & camera in laptop

A concept Fujitsu notebook could pull together your notebook, tablet, smartphone and digital camera, according to one designer's convergence ambitions, with the Fujitsu LIFEBOOK2013 docking each mobile gadget into a core laptop chassis. Created by Prashant Kumar Chandra for Fujitsu's "A Life With Future Computing" competition, the concept consists of a roughly 17-inch notebook that uses a detachable touchscreen tablet as its keyboard; a smartphone docks into a slot at the front, lending its WWAN connection, while a digital camera slots into a cutaway on the lid.

CES 2012 Tablet Round-Up

CES 2012 Tablet Round-Up

This year's Consumer Electronics Show revealed itself to be the real Ice Cream Sandwich treat for tablets in the Android sector, with one whole load of crap tablets attempting to burst the bubble of the very few high-class units that were or will be soon certified by Google. On the Windows 8 side of things, there were certainly some tablets to be seen, but certainly not to be touched - Windows 8 will be ready later this year, but Microsoft wasn't having it when it came to showing it off fully here at the convention. Then there's oddities galore like the Samsung Galaxy Note, a device we'd seen late 2011, but until now had never had a chance to peek at it on a USA carrier - it's time!

ASUS MeMO 171 hands-on

ASUS MeMO 171 hands-on

This week there's been some confusion surrounding the two MeMO tablets ASUS has announced for release in the coming months ahead - there's the MeMO 171, the tablet we're about to look at now, it having Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a dual-core processor, and the MeMO 370T, that being the Ice Cream Sandwich tablet with a quad-core processor. This MeMO 171 has been teased several times before, it having a 3D panel in the past, but here we've got the near-final version in-hand: Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradable to 4.0 eventually) and a Qualcomm 8260 1.2GHz dual-core processor behind a 7-inch Super IPS+ panel with a cool 178-inch wide viewing angle.
