NVIDIA's Tegra may not have grabbed as much attention as its Ion sibling - the latter's ability to grant the humble netbook with 1080p capabilities is certainly an eye-catcher - but the compact chipset is certainly doing impressive things inside the Zune HD and is poised to capitalize on Smartbooks too, so it comes as little surprise to hear that the company is readying its successor.  The NVIDIA Tegra 2 - not yet officially named - is expected to drop in 2010, claim Fudzilla's "high ranking industry sources", with twice the computational and graphics power of the first-gen chipset.

The NVIDIA team worked long and hard to ensure that the NVIDIA Tegra 4i would be ready to show off by the time Mobile World Congress came around. This week at CES 2013 the CEO of NVIDIA, Jen-Hsung Huang, revealed the next industry-leading processor by NVIDIA's clock, that being the Tegra 4. This processor works with 72 GPU cores, 4 A15 CPU cores, and the ability to work with 4G LTE. The first test this processor was put to live on stage was between itself in an unnamed tablet and the Google Nexus 10 - loading webpages on the Tegra 4 (imagine that) finished much, much quicker than the Nexus 10.

NVIDIA Tegra 4 “Wayne” leak tips 72 GPU cores

A leaked slide purportedly detailing NVIDIA's next-gen "Wayne" Tegra chipset has emerged, tipping a significant increase in graphics cores as well as a boost in mobile security provisions. The slide, shared on Chinese forum Chiphell, suggests the quadcore chipset will use NVIDIA's 4-PLUS-1 architecture as on the Tegra 3, paired with 72 GPU cores and support for 2560 x 1600 displays.

NVIDIA: 30 Tegra 3 smartphones coming in 2012

This week NVIDIA has brought forth the fury with an almost offhand mention of the fact that they've got plans for 28 more Tegra 3 quad-core smartphones for the year 2012. This adds to the two already announced Tegra 3 smartphones including the HTC One X which we've got a full review of as well as a hands-on with the other, that being the LG Optimus 4X. New devices will likely start popping up near the end of the year with 4G LTE capabilities as well via the Icera 410 for AT&T also announced this morning.

NVIDIA Tegra 4 spec leak tips quadcore A15 in 2013

NVIDIA's next-gen Tegra 4 chipset has purportedly been detailed ahead of its expected 2013 release, using the same 4-PLUS-1 configuration as the Tegra 3 but with newer ARM A15 cores. The new chipset will run at between 1.2GHz and 2.0GHz, the slide shared by VR-Zone indicates, depending on whether the device it's inside is targeted at the mainstream or flagship markets, and presumably what form-factor - tablet, phone or something else - is adopted.

NVIDIA Tegra to support Windows Phone in 2013?

NVIDIA is looking ahead to 2013 even though 2012 isn’t here yet and a leaked roadmap shows what the company has planned for the future with its Tegra chipsets. The leaked roadmap slide shows that NVIDIA is looking at putting its chips inside Windows Phone smartphones. It's interesting that 2013 is the year that NVIDIA pegs for supporting that platform.
