Verizon roadmap tips Motorola DROID Pro, Samsung & Moto tablets and LTE MiFi

Details of Verizon's roadmap covering not only the rest of 2010 but partial details of 2011 and even 2012 have leaked, tipping a 1.3GHz Motorola Android phone, various tablets and LTE handsets and MiFi mobile hotspots.  However, the information - provided to BGR by a source at Verizon Wireless - makes no mention of a CDMA iPhone 4.  Instead, the de-facto flagship is the Motorola DROID Pro, a 4-inch Android smartphone with 1.3GHz processor and global wireless, apparently due to arrive in November this year.

Virgin Mobile MiFi 2200 Review

Virgin Mobile MiFi 2200 Review

Two years ago, mobile broadband was levied out on a per-device basis: one connection per gadget. Novatel Wireless changed that with their MiFi, a portable 3G router that shared a single wireless connection with up to five WiFi devices. Now, Virgin Mobile USA are hoping to change the way we pay for our shareable mobile data, with the first prepaid MiFi on the US market. Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Dear Canada, you've been very patient but your MiFi wait is over.  Having announced back in October that the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 "intelligent mobile hotspot" was coming to Bell Mobility in November 2009, the carrier has waited until the very end of the month to put the 3G-sharing battery powered router on sale.  However, on sale it is, and as of today Canadians looking to share a single 3G HSDPA/HSUPA connection between up to five WiFi devices can do so for $99.95 with a new, three year agreement.

MiFi 2200 firmware update adds Sprint CDMA roaming

MiFi 2200 owners in the US have a treat in store, with a new firmware update available seemingly for both the Verizon and Sprint versions of the intelligent mobile hotspot.  The new firmware addresses WiFi compatibility issues with the Nintendo DS and BlackBerry Curve, as well as - for the Sprint MiFi 2200 at least - enabling "international roaming".  However don't get too excited; that doesn't mean Novatel have suddenly unlocked GSM support in the hitherto CDMA-only hotspot.

Mobile internet sharing looks to be one of the key sales messages for smartphones over the next few months; we've already heard HTC talking up their connection sharing app on the HD2, and now Verizon are tipped to be promoting MiFi action on the upcoming BlackBerry Storm2.  According to a leaked marketing page from the CDMA carrier, the "Totally New Storm2" would launch on October 21st with "MiFi capability"; however that date was later retracted.
