Nokia Lumia 720 Review

Nokia Lumia 720 Review

Nokia's Lumia range is, depending on those you ask, either getting crowded or becoming more flexible, with the new Lumia 720 slotting in-between the 620 and the older 820. With its 4.3-inch screen adding up to a pocket-friendly size, the Lumia 720 makes a strong argument for the Windows Phone midrange. Still, we've already praised the Lumia 620 for punching above its station, so does the 720 really carve out enough of a difference to make it worth consideration? Read on for the full review.

Nokia HERE Maps for iOS released

Nokia HERE Maps for iOS released

Nokia's HERE Maps has arrived in the iOS App Store, a free download intended to take on Apple's own much-maligned Maps app, though it's not quite as slick as many were hoping. The new app - which uses mapping data from Nokia-owned NAVTEQ, and supports Here.net personalized points-of-interest Collections - was announced earlier this month, though some rough edges are evident by virtue of it being an HTML5 app rather than native iOS software.

Nokia Lumia 810 Review

Nokia Lumia 810 Review

With the Nokia Lumia 810 comes T-Mobile's chance to jump aboard the Windows Phone 8 / Nokia train to victory with a slightly powered-down version of the hero Lumia line introduced earlier this year. We've got our review of the Nokia Lumia 920, a beast of a machine with its own set of top-tier features, now we see the lower end of the spectrum with the 810 and its slightly less daring smartphone body. As it turns out, much of the experience here is the same, with not a whole lot of apparent difference to be seen between this and any other high-powered Windows Phone 8 smartphone on the market thus far.

Nokia slaps HTC with Windows Phone 8 innovation snub

Nokia slaps HTC with Windows Phone 8 innovation snub

Nokia has lashed out at HTC over the 8X and 8S, dismissing the new "signature" Windows Phone 8 handsets as rebrands that are lacking in innovation. "Instead of changing a product name, we're changing the game with benefits like PureView, nav & wireless charging" Nokia executive vice president of sales and marketing Chris Weber tweeted shortly after HTC revealed its new line-up. "It takes more than matching color to match the innovation of the Lumia 920."

Nokia Lumia 820 hands-on extended cut with NFC

Nokia Lumia 820 hands-on extended cut with NFC

It's time to have a bit longer look at a video showing off Nokia's brand new Lumia 820, the smaller of the two smartphones revealed this week with a fully functional version of Windows Phone 8 onboard. This device has many of the same powerful attributes as the Nokia Lumia 920, but has a bit smaller profile and brings in rounded edges and an interchangeable backplate that doesn't have NFC embedded right out of the box. What we got to see yesterday was not just the special NFC-toting backplate that you can purchase separate from the 820, but the device working live with Nokia City Lens and Nokia Transport as well.

Nokia gets connected with automotive futures

Nokia gets connected with automotive futures

This week the folks at Nokia are bringing on the next generation of their hardware and software integration talks with none other than their own Floris Van-De-Klashorst speaking about the future of automotive. The Connected Car, as they call it, is one which is a futuristic concept - this meaning that though we've got cars at the moment that are relatively connected, we've not yet scratched the surface.
