Nokia Lumia 925 Review

Nokia is on a roll with Windows Phone 8 - when it comes to filling out its range, anyway. The Finnish company has spent 2013 slotting a Lumia into almost every possible gap in the market, and now has a third flagship-spec model in the shape of the Nokia Lumia 925. The latest to bear PureView branding, and arguably the best-quality handset running Microsoft's platform that we've seen to-date, the Lumia 925 ticks all the boxes on paper, certainly. Is this the smartphone to sign two years of your cellular life away to? Read on for the full review.

Nokia Symbian taking final breaths this summer

Nokia Symbian taking final breaths this summer

The Symbian mobile operating system had its hay day, and surprisingly it was the number one mobile OS in the world up until a few years ago when Android took the lead. While many phone manufacturers used Symbian, Nokia was most famous for using Symbian (as they also own the platform), and it seems that after a several-year drought, the Finnish company is finally calling it quits for Symbian this summer.

Nokia Lumia 928 Review

Now that Verizon has its own Nokia hero smartphone working with Windows Phone 8, it's high time the platform takes off, isn't it? At the moment, the Nokia Lumia 928 is one of the nicer Windows Phone 8 devices on the market, and if it weren't for the release of the Nokia Lumia 925 (having been revealed this month right on top of the 928), it'd be an easy thing to say that this is Nokia's finest effort to date with this OS. As it stands, this device is ready instead to be the heartiest Windows Phone 8 smartphone in the USA.

Nokia Lumia 925 hands-on

Nokia Lumia 925 hands-on

The Nokia Lumia 925 bottom line is simple: it's the best looking, best feeling Windows Phone 8 handset Nokia has given us to-date, and while it may not be PureView as the 808 outlined it, Nokia is aiming big with claims that it offers the best low-light performance of any smartphone on the market. Officially announced today, we caught up with the Lumia 925 to see whether it truly lives up to its premium billing, and whether - as Nokia insists - it can live alongside the Lumia 920 and 928, rather than just muddy the waters. Read on for our first impressions.

Nokia Asha 501 relaunches Asha touch with a hint of MeeGo

Nokia has announced its latest handset for developing markets, the Nokia Asha 501, relaunching the Asha touch series and borrowing some of MeeGo's usability for a mass audience. Arriving in India, Latin America, and Africa from late June, and priced at just $99 pre-tax and subsidies, the Asha 501 debuts a new interface with a twin-pane homescreen, pulling apps into one view and then - a side-swipe away - notifications and recently-used items into a second, Fastlane view.

Nokia Lumia 520 Review

Nokia Lumia 520 Review

It's Nokia's cheapest Windows Phone 8 device, takes the company's latest range to five models, and borrows some of the style from its bigger siblings, but can the Lumia 520 compete with cheap Android? Unveiled alongside the Lumia 720 at Mobile World Congress, the 520 slots in at the entry-level with a few compromises along the way to reach its sub-€150 unsubsidized price. Have the cut corners left the baby Lumia lacking? Read on for our review.

Nokia Lumia 720 Review

Nokia Lumia 720 Review

Nokia's Lumia range is, depending on those you ask, either getting crowded or becoming more flexible, with the new Lumia 720 slotting in-between the 620 and the older 820. With its 4.3-inch screen adding up to a pocket-friendly size, the Lumia 720 makes a strong argument for the Windows Phone midrange. Still, we've already praised the Lumia 620 for punching above its station, so does the 720 really carve out enough of a difference to make it worth consideration? Read on for the full review.

Nokia CEO promises “exciting things with Verizon”; “We’ve just begun” on iOS

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has teased "exciting things with Verizon" in the ilk of AT&T's flagship Lumia 920, though the coy chief-exec declined to specify exactly what the CDMA carrier could be getting. "There might be another similar hero exercise with a different operator" Elop told CNET, referring to Nokia's current strategy of picking a single carrier to push flagship devices in each country. "And we're pleased to have just restarted our relationship with Verizon. We are planning a lot of exciting things with Verizon as well."
