Nokia Android phone tipped without Google

Nokia Android phone tipped without Google

It would seem that the elusive Nokia Android smartphone has been tipped as close to release this week, with a full collection of Microsoft and Nokia-created apps inside instead of Google's own. As Amazon has proven over the past several years, Google's Android is fully capable of being forked to a degree where Google itself need no longer be involved on the surface. Here Nokia is said to be taking a stab without Google's apps appearing anywhere on the device.

Nokia Lumia 1320 Review

Nokia Lumia 1320 Review

Nokia's Lumia 1520 grabbed the bulk of the headlines at the company's Abu Dhabi event last October, but it wasn't the only phablet the company brought along. In addition to the 6-inch flagship there was another, more affordable phone, the Nokia Lumia 1320, trading some of the high-end specs in favor of mass-market appeal. Question is, with a lower resolution display and the sacrifice of PureView, has Nokia trimmed too much to make the Lumia 1320 a hit? Read on for the full review.

Honda bakes Siri Eyes Free and HERE Maps into 2014 Civic

Honda has baked both Apple and Nokia technology into its latest infotainment system, bringing Siri Eyes Free and HERE Maps with remote route planning support to the 2014 Civic. The new car - and the 2015 Honda Fit which will follow it - gets an updated version of HondaLink, with a 7-inch multitouch-capable display in the dashboard for navigating through audio, phone, directions, Pandora, and web-based points of interests using the Aha app. However, the 2014 Civic will also be the first car to get Siri Eye Free technology, Apple's integration of its personal digital assistant into the dashboard.

Nokia Lumia 2520 review

Nokia Lumia 2520 review

The Nokia Lumia 2520 has been some time coming. The glaring absence of a tablet in the company's range, and its refusal to discuss it until it could figure out a suitably "Nokia spin" on the segment, left us with big expectations. Turns out, the Nokia magic is making LTE standard-fit and borrowing the Lumia phone style for a Windows RT slate, but is that enough to differentiate the Lumia 2520 from the iPad and Microsoft's Surface 2? Read on for the SlashGear review.

Nokia Lumia 2520 hands-on

Nokia Lumia 2520 hands-on

Nokia's Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet has been some time coming. The company's last attempt at full Windows, the Nokia Booklet, proved too expensive and too slow, and Nokia's enthusiasm for big-screen devices has waned ever since. The Lumia 2520 changes all that, however, a 10.1-inch alternative to the full-sized iPad and numerous Android tablets, cladding Windows RT in the distinctive and colorful polycarbonate Nokia's Windows Phone range has become known for. Read on for our first-impressions.

Nokia Lumia 1520 hands-on

Nokia Lumia 1520 hands-on

Nokia's new flagship Lumia 1520 is big news and a big phone. The company's first "phablet" Windows Phone, it marks the debut of official 1080p screen support in version 8.1 of Microsoft's platform, not to mention a further distillation of Nokia's investment into PureView camera technology down into the mass market. It's also the device that Nokia hopes will rival top-tier iPhone and Android handsets that, so far, it has struggled to compete with. Plenty of high expectations, then, but does the Lumia 1520 live up to them? Read on for our first impressions.

Nokia Lumia 1320 puts WP8 on a 6-inch midrange phablet

Nokia Lumia 1320 puts WP8 on a 6-inch midrange phablet

Nokia has two phablets to eventually get Windows Phone 8.1, the flagship Lumia 1520 and the more affordable Lumia 1320, a 6-inch smartphone for the mainstream. Using a 720p display rather than the Full HD of the 1520, the Nokia Lumia 1320 keeps the LTE of its more expensive sibling but scales back on the processor, with the Finnish firm opting for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 dualcore. Most disappointing, perhaps, is missing out on the PureView camera technology.
