There's always a risk when a high-interest product is announced that by the time it hits shelves its moment has passed.  The Nokia E72 has been just such an anticipated smartphone, with eager E71 owners keen to upgrade to the Finns' latest QWERTY marvel; problem is, at nigh on six months between announcement and availability, that's a long time for the appeal to pale.  Has tardiness robbed the E72 of its market, or does a well considered keyboard save the day?  Check out the SlashGear review after the cut.

Nokia E72 now shipping [Video]

Nokia's E72 has finally begun shipping, having been announced all the way back in June.  The much-anticipated follow-up to the Nokia E71, the E72 is an unashamedly email-centric smartphone, with a full QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad; running S60, Nokia have added in IM support from the homescreen together with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash.

Nokia's Booklet 3G isn't the only new device from the company on our test bench today; two of the Finn's newest smartphones have also arrived, in the shape of the N97 mini and the E72.  Announced back in September and June, respectively, each offers a full QWERTY keyboard and S60 OS, but in strikingly different ways.  Check out our unboxing videos, live galleries and some first impressions after the cut.

BlackBerry may be the name associated with QWERTY messaging phones, but there's a vocal cadre of Nokia users all too keen to talk about the merits of the Finnish company's keyboard-blessed candybars. The E72 met with mixed reactions, failing to quite capture affection the way its E71 predecessor did; now we have the E6 (aka Nokia E6-00), pairing keyboard and touchscreen and offering a taste of the latest Symbian flavor, Anna.
