Nokia Windows Phones detailed: X7-based W7, 12MP N8 variant, more

Nokia's Windows Phone ambitions have been prematurely previewed, with rumored details of four handsets supposedly in development being leaked. The company has apparently bypassed the so-called "chassis 1" format - the tightly spec-constrained handsets we've seen so-far - and, according to Mobile-review, dived straight into developing "chassis 2" prototypes which will allow Nokia greater flexibility in the design and components it can use. The initial four designs reportedly consist of X7 and N8 variants running Windows Phone, along with a QWERTY touchscreen candybar device similar to the E6 and a "cheap" all-touch device for the entry-level price point.

Nokia T7-00 leaks (but sorry, it’s no tablet)

News of a new Nokia device has leaked, courtesy of the OVI Publisher tools, the Nokia T7-00. The first of what would be a new line of nomenclature for the company, while it's tempting to think that "T" stands for "Tablet", unfortunately that doesn't seem particularly likely; well, not unless you like your slates particularly low-resolution.

Nokia E7 delayed until early 2011 [Updated]

The Nokia E7 has been delayed until early 2011, missing its December release window. Nokia had been insisting the E7 was on track for retail availability before the end of the year as recently as last month, but unspecified issues have forced the company to postpone that. "To ensure the best possible user experience on the E7 we have decided to begin shipping it in early 2011" a Nokia spokesperson told Reuters.

Apple, Nokia, Microsoft and SE all facing higher Foxconn bills

Apple, Nokia, Microsoft and SE all facing higher Foxconn bills

Foxconn is expected to begin charging Apple and other customers higher prices for manufacturing their smartphones and other electronics, in a move which is being seen as offsetting the company's increased wage obligations.  The company, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Industries, made promises earlier in the year to increase the amount it paid employees and hopefully turn around a spate of reputation-damaging suicides.

Apple Sues Nokia in Britain

Apple Sues Nokia in Britain

The legal troubles between Apple and Nokia may have quieted down over the last few months, but they certainly haven't died. Today, it has become known that Apple have taken the steps necessary to sue Nokia in Britain. Officially taking the legal battle beyond the United States. The report has been commented on by Nokia, and so far their investigations into the lawsuit seems to be focused on nine implementation patents that are already being looked at by both companies.

Nokia N900 sold “well in excess” of 100,000 in five weeks; Gartner figures seriously wrong claims source

Analyst predictions - like any other - should generally be taken with a pinch of salt (the Steve Ballmer at WWDC 2010 speculation is good evidence of quite how much sodium is necessary), but it seems someone at Gartner has been seriously mistaken in their counting.  They're quoted as claiming under 100,000 Nokia N900 units were sold in its first five months on the market; however, a source we spoke to at Nokia today told us that in fact the Finnish company sold "well in excess of 100,000" N900 handsets in the first five weeks.
